Yes, i was using a homemade sparkcoil, im only using it for testing though. I have a factory-made sparkcoil on the way.

I wound the HV-coil with the specs on the schematic, same wire sizes/amount of winds.

It's normal you distroy your homemade sparkcoil, I distroy maybe 10 of this homemade coils.
Sparkcoils need more isolation as normal, also between the wires must be placed isolationpaper.
Wait for your factory-sparkcoil befor you test the CDI again.

when winding ignition coils, it is extremely important to keep your windings level and to have fish paper between each layer.

Your goal is to have minimum voltage difference between two adjacent wires to minimize flash over.

If there is several hundred volts difference between two adjacent wires, you are going to loose the ignition coil.

wasnt planning on using the homemade coil, i knew i was going to fry it pretty quick because i wound it with a drill and i didnt insulate between the layers.

Ok so i finally got everything i needed to fully test my ignition, But when i power it up, it is very erratic, the microcontroller doesnt seem to be doing anything. I made a ground shield that covers the HV circuit and that filtered out the noise and now it doesnt respond to anthing, it just cycles. I havent tried re-programming the PIC yet but do you have any suggestions for things that i can check?

-Thanks
