Nyemi, I need the starting degrees to be at 6 degrees. If I try to start my engine with the curve set the way it is, it kicks back hard when trying to start. Maybe setting advance from 458 rpm to 1000 rpm to be 6 degrees would work better.

Hi gr8flyer55

I will give you a blank curve. I do not understand that you want.

You show me,  low-speed ignition curve.

The image shows the low speed options.

The degree values can be changed.

In this case 15 °.

Hi Nyemi,

Thanks for all your efforts. Inital or POP(point of pickup) timing is 28 - 30 degrees BTDC. At starting rpm(rpm > 500) the curve needs to be at 5 degrees BTDC to avoid kickback. once the engine starts and idle then the curve can begine to advance. Thanks again.

Hi COM
I asked. 458 rpm under a green or black curve?
Motor bicycle works: no spark <458 RPM
You manually operate the engine.
I, therefore, deals with low RPM.

I count reverse.

Hi Charlie...
It seems to work for me now that I reduced max static advance to 15 degrees. Need a reliable excel sheet.

Hi John,

with the inital timing set at 15 degrees you won't be getting all you can out the engine. As I am sure you know.

I know Charlie, but at least it's not kicking back now. The advance should actually start after 1,000 rpm. That seems to be so hard to accomplish with this program and excel sheet.

Charlie, have you had any luck editing the excel sheet for Nyemi's new assembly program?
I had tried awhile to get it to stay at 0 degrees until it reached 1000 rpms. Every time I try, it seems to revert back to 458 rpms. Wish I knew the trick to get the edits to stay what I changed it to. That's all I need to complete the hex file to make it perfect.

Hi John,

I have not been messing with the new code. I have instead been playing with the old code and fine tuning the excell sheet for it. I ported the code over to a 12F pic. now all that is left is to try it. I want ti do that tomorrow or tuesday. I will let you know what I find.

Let me know if it works Charlie. Getting nowhere here with edits. Although it does run my 25cc engine just fine after a rough start.

Charlie, we have perfection! Absolutely perfect!
I am getting 1 flip hand starts without a chicken stick.
1800 rpm very reliable idle and beautiful top end performance of 6800 rpm on my 25 cc conversion engine.
That's down from my normal idle of 1950 rpm and over 400 more top end from my usual 6400 rpm max I had before!
Excellent results I think.

I am in the process of getting everything finalized for a complete package ready to go and cheaper than an RCexcel.
Many things to do now from board production to final products. I have a shopping list underway here.

Just finished testing new timer boards and new software. Everything is now working perfectly.
No frills, no bells & whistles, just great performance.

Terrific work John.
Good to see you stuck to it and have good results. I can remember a few times when you were just about ready to chuck everything in the bin......can get frustrating at times I know. I had to get a few parts from Farnells the other day, so I looked up their spec sheets and had them send up a few of the ferrite cores you mentioned, 13mm ones. I will be overseas for the next 3 months so no "shed" work for me but I will keep a lookout for proceedings.
Once again, great achievement.......... Jeff

There may be a hand drawn schematic shortly. I never figured out the circuit drawing program I downloaded.

I am adding one feature to the new timer board, a LED timing light triggered from a reverse output pin on the pic chip.
Anyone think this is a worthwhile feature? Added it to the schematic already. If it is not desired, just eliminate the 4 added parts.

Personal preferences for timing curves can be addressed to Nyemi. He has offered numerous times to accommodate requests.

Another project to be added in the near future is an inline tachometer, which simply plugs into the hall sensor cable with a Y-cable for testing your engines performance figures. If anyone has a tested design to add to this series of projects, let's see if it can be accomplished. I have one in mind to try with a 3 1/2 digit display. Only limit is top rpm readings. A 2 to 3 times per second sampling rate would serve our purposes very well. I am very interested in this add-on to the system.
