That looks like it'll work. I looked all over the net last night and found the oneway bearing only. I ordered it for $10 including shipping. I'll let everyone know the outcome. As far as bearings in general I came across this ebay store thats got bearings for everything. http://stores.ebay.ca/VXB-Bearings-Skateboard-and-Slotcar The One Way on his site looks different.

That's alright. I just wish Eric or futubaed could chime in on this and give me the right part #. Mark from Topspeed confirmed what you said so I gave it a try. It's only $. LOL Hopefully someboby has the proper #.

The issue with this is the OWB IS the right part for the pullstarter, too...but normal joes like you and me can't press-fit the OWB into the hex housing

This has already been discussed with the powers that be this past Monday, and it'll be resolved.

Unfortunately...the Chinese don't realize us fat lazy Americans don't want to press-fit an OWB every time we have one go out

D'oh!!! Totally neglected looking at the length...I was sitting here with a run-with-no-air-filter VX16 and the OWB we sell...

Chubbs,

I felt compelled to help you since I told you the part number for the OWB.
I took the pullstart off a new VX-18 and took the info off the bearing.

It says "GERMANY HF0612"

Quick search on the net and I found this: http://www.microheli.com/mhshop/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=hf0612

Searched here on RCU and found a whole thread about it on the HPI Monster truck forum here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3415869/anchors_3415869/mpage_1/key_hf0612/anchor/tm.htm#3415869

It seems this is a very common bearing that fits engines from .15 - .23's

Hope this helps,

Mark

I agree... For the lightning...

More aluminum parts
Carbon fiber parts... deep offest rims ? ( bout 6mm)
aluminum gears ( spur gears )
berrer exaust's

that would be everything someone needs for a lightning

Thanks Mark & Blue and all. I ordered the HF0612 bearing from a shop that sells micro Helicopters. On the site they also sell a OWB removal tool. I just put the bearing holder on top off a socket then used a small 1/4" drive deep socket to tap the bearing out. There are differences in these bearings as far as torque so I'll let you know how it works out. $10 was the cheapest and I'm hoping it'll work.
Eric like I said before Redcat P/N 02067 is not for the pullstart. The only common thing is the inner and outer dimensions. The starter OWB is MUCH more heavily constucted and no plastic. Like Mark posted it's made in Germany not China. Same bearing as the OWB in the 4.1 Sav motor.

The Pulstart OWB is just a press fit. The 02067 Redcat bearing has a very light hex on it to hold it in the plastic gear in the two speed. They really aren't even close in construction.

Nice support redcat, great answer.

I want a 2 speed clutch bell that doesnt warp or an alternative like the members of the redcat forum found for the single speeds (15-17 tooth hpi bells). This issue has been going on for months.

Do you have any idea what it's like to work with a supplier that's on the opposite side of the world? Did you really think this would be solved overnight? I understand that it's been "known" for months, but come on dude...we could be like some companies and claim that the defect is your imagination, and continue to pump out a substandard product instead of at least addressing it.

I've been searching but the only thing remotely close that I've found is a Hot Bodies gear set that costs about 90 something dollars. So up untill this point nothing yet.

Here's a link to it: 2Speed

It looks like all you'd have to do is maybe remove those bearings and put the transmission housing over it.

Well actually, that got me thinkin. This isn't asking too much but it woudl be cool to have waterproof upgrades. And instead of these plastic "truck" bodys, have a steelcage style dune buggy. Like bascially a bunch of steel angles that make up a frame work the protects everything from a roll over. It's kinda hard to describe. But something simmilar to the pic. But the wud b sweet.
