Hi Folks,

I am new to helicopters so please bear with me. I do have someone to help with the training and to verify my setup but I want to make sure I have it as close as possible so when he does the maiden there is little worry, for both him and me. I do have the manual but I have some problems understanding certain items

I'll number these to make it easier

1.) I'm using a JR9303, what type of CCPM mixing does this bird require I have the following to use

1 Servo Non-CCPM, standard mixing type
2 Servo/180° CCPM
3 Servo/120° CCPM
3 Servo/140° CCPM
3 Servo/90° CCPM
4 Servo/90° CCPM

2.) When measuring the control rod length is it done from the end of the threaded portion of the ball link (Where it screws onto the rod) or the center of the link when the ball fits into or the edge of the link past where the ball fits into out on the end

3.) Does anyone know of a web site that can supply more or better info than the manual give

1. Unless you have a CCPM upgrade, the stock Hawk Pro uses 1 servo, standard mixing.

2. When i measured them i went as they say from plastic end to plastic end. Which i saw as the very tip to the very tip, so calipers can measure them pretty good. However i found nearly all the measurements needed adjusting. Also, some of the 'pre-set' links were not identical on both sides, every link that is supposed to be identical to its pair should be checked and matched, or you get tracking issues.

3. Even though its not specifically about the hawk, Raptor Technique is really good. I looked on www.raptortechnique.com to see how the links should be adjusted. Getting everything at 90 degree angles to eachother pretty much made it easy to adjust for 0 degrees at mid stick and a range of -10 to 10 degrees at bottom and top respectively.

Bubba, welcome to the dark side!

Control rod measurements are made from center of ball (or hole) to center. Calipers are great. Ricks makes an add on tool from Vario that clamps onto the caliper gauges and has a tapered rod to slide the ball links onto if you want perfect links.

Thanks folks. I told you in my other thread when I asked about what to get I felt it creeping up. I ended up with the Hawk because of a funds issue but I also made out in the training department. A person at our club flies the Hawk Sport for kicks but own other, better birds and he let me have at it on the buddy box and from that moment on it was no longer a bug, it quickly became how came I get going with out comprimising the chance at a decent heli at a good price. I spoke to this person and he mentioned that of course the Raptor/Schedeau/EVO were the way to go but the Hawk Pro was basicaly what I just flew. He had run all the upgrades into the Sport that the Pro has already.

All I have left is to set control rod lengths and verify blade/paddle pitches and she is ready. I did by some upgrades for it like the aluminum servo arms, aluminum brace, etc... so we'll see how it goes.

Any tips that anyone could provide would be most welcome in regards to verifying things are in order. I do plan on NOT doing the maiden myself.

Re: The pushrod lengths - some manuals measure from center of ball link to center of ball link while others from outside to outside.

You will find rod lengths for the Hawk Sport on page 25 here in this PDF manual available in the product support area of the century web site.

http://www.centuryheli.com/support/manuals/manual.html?currentid=2

And those from the Hawk Pro here on page 25 also:
