Hello everyone, a week ago, I got a 1982 Honda NC50 express. Yes, I know it's a chick magnet. For $100.00, The engine runs, the Electrical works, the tranny is good, etc, the only thing wrong is the rear wheel, which has only 9 good spokes out of 28, but I'm in the process of getting a new one. Just to add, It has 4,414 miles on it, and the engine is running strong! The battery is also dead, but it is a small 6 volt battery, $25.00 tops. This will be my first transportation vehicle, other than a bike, that I'm going to ride to school on. Not only does it save on fuel costs, but you look cool burning it and turn some heads. I like these kinds of mopeds better than the newer ones are all plastic, just more to get cracked and damaged, no offense. If anyone has peds like these, please post with a pic or a story. I also need to figure out a name for it. thanks for reading, Joe

I have a 1978 Puegot moped. I am in the process of rebuilding it from the ground up. I got rid of a lot of the chassis rust so far, and will continue to work on it for a good long time to come. I am trying to restore it right now, because it is rather rare and it only has like 400 miles on it. I have it all disassembled in a box downstairs. The engine is all recently rebuilt with new piston rings and a freshly cleaned carb. It's still got plenty of life on it.
The only reason why I have it in the first place is because I bought it off a friend for a burger and some fries at Burger King..... and to me that's one Hell of a deal! Especially seing as how I am a packrat who keeps everything and looks for new ways to aquire one of everything... if there are more out there you know who you are. If you too have a box in your basement with a moped in it, you cannot deny that you are a packrat.

An update. After looking at how poor of a job the last guy did at painting this bike, I decided to disassemble, clean, and repaint it. Heres some step by step photo's I took, incase I got messed up. I'm going to try to make it look like this, it is the same moped, but a different year, practicly the same thing. http://mopedwizard.www1.50megs.com/gallery1a.html I will be updating this daily, so always check, enjoy, Joe. PS, I did take that basket off, snowbl!ind, you were right on that one.

No I liked the basket (trying to keep at striaght face while saying that was hard).
This thing reminds me of a pushbike from the 70`s where you could fold it in half and pack it away.
Looks good fun but as was said earleir just dont hurt yourself on it. It takes hundreds of nuts to hold a vehicle together but only one behind the wheel to scatter them all over the road (got that from my dad when I first started to learn to drive).

UPDATE: I found a bike cable and filed down the end so it will fit in the throtle y(so the throtle handle moves both the throtle cable and the oil pump cable), so it looks like that saved me $18 bucks and no one will ever now. I also sand blasted the peg holder thing and another part for the rear turn signals. I also took the handle bars off, and the bearing, which was actually free balls, not in a holder. I also took the rear oil tank holder/rear light bracket and used 180 grit sandpaper, and removed 99% of all the rust, so now, see the pics, it is shiny. I'll clean those and the ball holders tommorrow, including cleaning some of the plastic parts. Here's some pics:

Update: I polished the handle bars, cleaned the handles, plastic parts, and organized the stuff. I now only need to prep the frame for primer and paint, and paint them.

Last update: I painted the parts, and rebuilt it. It took about 5 hours to re construct it. I think it turned out pretty good. I also found a bike cable that I modified so now my oil pump should work, because the old one must have broke on the owner before me, and the electrical worked flawlessly, and the engine needed some time to get started, but it runs awsome. I want to here your comment on the new look, so please post what you think, compared the the old design. Oh, my original paint design was going to be silver/grey, yellow, and red. But the yellow turned out to be crap, so I was only left with silver/grey and red, which is the colors of our town, so it is a plus. Here's some pics, Joe.
