I want to put saito 4 strokes in this bird. I cut the wood engine mounts off and am going to epoxy a ply firewall up front and mount the engine. What size saito would fly this bird well and not leave it underpowered? First twin took twinmans advice , engines are close together better engine out preformance

Hi!

Started to build my Marutaka (Royal) (C-47) DC-3 in 1980 and had a loooong building stop on it, but stared building again two years ago.
I plan to use 2 OS .26 FS fourstrokes in mine...I have lighten it were ever possible and aim for 3kg ready to fly.
I have made molds in glassfiber for it (more scalelike), engine nacells and cowls as well as the oil cooler under the engines.
I use the swiss Gizendanner electrical retracts (5 sec retraction time) You find these at
http://www.matt-rc.li/englisch/home/giezendanner.html
For tanks I use homemade soldered steel tanks that fit bihind the firewall ( 4oz tanks). My engines run for 13-14 min at full throttle on these tanks.

Regards!

I'm not sure of the Royal kit, but I fly the Top Flight DC-3, using (2) OS- 40 4 cycle engines. The plane literally jumps of the ground in about 25 feet, but throttle it back once airborne and gear up, and it flies beautifully. No need for flaps on take off.....
