well, after 3 flights on the first day i am more than impressed. prophanging on 1/3rd power!!!!

question for anyone tho.....

why is it if i stick in more than a smidgen of up elevator the wings rock??? tight loops are messy and i have to constantly correct them throughout. also from a fly past into a sharp pull up for prop hanging the wing drops a tip. any solutions???

Try putting both ailerons up a 1/16" to an 1/8" it may help as it adds a bit of washout and you may have a small missalignighment.

Hope that helps, let us know.

Mike

Are your elevators moving completely in sync with each other? That might cause it too I think.

that was my thought as well....
also check lateral balance....

but that being said... if I am at WOT and give it full ele.. it will corkscrew a little bit (this is at low rates... NEVER do this at high rates!)

problem!!!!!!!!!!

On landing on tarmac the other week (end of Aug) i was taxying along and turned towards the pit area. as i did this the model suddenly nosed over and rested on the spinner and one wing tip. this was really odd i thought.

I picked up the model to see what had caused it and the u/c had completely split open to reveal the fibres inside!!
it had literally twisted itself inside out. i took it off for a further invest and discovered that there were dry patches in the glass fibre where there should have been resin.

i have sent it off to Mike at Fusion Models, the uk distributor, and he has offered me (finally, after 6 weeks +) a freebie replacement one until Carbon Copy have made a replacement one for the stock item. having looked at the u/c away from the model, i noticed that there was a lot of toe in on it. anyone else had similar probs??

Hi Bart,

I recently finished my 85" Yak with a DA50. CG was also an issue cause it would be too rearward. I had to build an extension of the engine box to locate the batteries (Fromeco 4,800ma RX and 2.400mA for ign) almost over the engine. I attached some pictures where you can see what I had to do just to take the CG to the rear of the recommended in the manual. I dont want to put weight so I am going to fly it as it is now. I expect the maiden for this coming weekend if weather permits.

I believe that you could solve your problem by using slightly longer standoffs in the engine mount. Yours appear to be short. Prop clearance in front of the cowl is not a problem even if it sticks out too much. I would try that in order to avoid adding extra weight.

Good luck!

Fernando

Yes it is close and the command is metal although isolated from the motor. I have seen a number of this installations without any problem. In any case if anyone else have some comment about this would be appreciated.

Paully,

Are saying that your landing gear was sent to FM two months ago and they haven't received it yet? Please email me with more info and the time you were told they were shipped from the U.S. I will be away next 3 days but will check it for you first thing Monday morning. Please email me as much details as you can.

Thank you,
Reza

Metal too metal contact can cause problems at range even if it has not caused problems at close quarters, the scrapping of metal too metal can transmit FM signals and should be avoided if at all possible, change the servo horn for a plasic one and put a ball link on the carb arm, easiest solution.

Why did you not go direct or to Carbon Copy for your replacement UC?

well mike at fusion said that they havent even made one for this kit. the u/c needs to sweep forward.
Apparantly they are making them up but for now i have had no choice but to opt for a replacement glass one. not too happy about it but at least the plane gets out of the garage for some fresh air now!!!

I am sure that Carbon Copy would have had a UC that with some mods would have fitted, did you check on thier web site? I put one of there UC on my Edge, but had to mod the mounting some what to accomadate it, not a small mod either but at least it meant I was in controll of when my plane flew again.

I have a LG from carbon copy for my YAK85" but it doesn't fit, the ref is CCU21 (i sell it at cheap price), you have to cut it to fit in the fuselage.
