I read on off shore electrics that one of the guys there doesnt run the teflon liners in his brass stuffing tubes because the straight brass has less friction than when the plastic liner is in there. So if I run the flex shaft in the brass tubing would the flex shaft wear a hole in the brass over time even if its greased often, or would it be ok.

Just off hand, and assuming that the proper maintenance is done, I don't see all that much need for a teflon liner. If you run the boat long enough I'm sure there may come a time when the stuffing box or flex drive would have to be replaced. I personally don't think I'll live long enough to worry about it though. Then again, I'm probably older than some people...
