This is my custom design. You might think it looks like an extra special. I copied the idea off of it and made it. I did not have the plans so I completely built something like it myself. I have flown it and I guess this type of plane is too squirley especially with the cg an inch back.

A nice looking plane.

If it is nose heavy, you can always try moving the wing forward a bit. Typically SPAD's CG is at or near the spar which usually is between 25% - 30% of the chord (I believe). Since you didn't say what engine you have on it, maybe a smaller engine or a lighter one will help.

Nice work,

I have an enya 35x heli engine. It has about the same power as a 40fx. I can't change the wing, but I could probably do something else.

You could try moving the battery forward or reflexing the ailerons up just a bit. These SPAD's don't like drooping ailerons too much.

Happy Holiday's!

if the battery is in the wing, take it out, and move it as far forward as possible, use double sided tape, and a zip tie, and zip it to the fuselage, opposite of the exhaust. If you haven't already, add a heavy hub instead of the plastic spinner (or under it, if it'll fit). That should shift your cg a good bit. If that doesn't do it. A ball bearing 46 usually weighs a full pound or so. I'd bet that'd move it right up where you want it.

It is all coroplast. There are no ribs in the wing. For the fuse I used 3 sheets of 4 mil coro put together like plywood. It has a fully symetrical wing that is really thick. The wing only has a piece of coro for the spar.

I did everything, but add teh bigger engine. I might later, but the problem is that I have 6 servos. 2 on the elevators. I am not sure how to unify this so I used to. I bet if I am able to get rid of this servo then it would be balanced since I have 3 servos in the rear.

its kinda hard to do after its finished, but you can unify the elevator halves easily enough.
Take a piece of 1/8" music wire, and bend it into a U shape. Then, poke the vertical halves of the U into the elevator halves. The flat part will rest in the elevator hinge line.

Alot easier to do before you install the rudder, but it can be done after the rudder is installed, you just have to work the wire through, and insert it one end at a time through the hinge.

Here's a pic of one installed that way:

Try this on your next one. If you notice on Fun FLy's they have a fat wing. Use a piece of tubing and a heat gun to make a nice LARGE rounded Leading edge. Works good once you get the trick down. Practice on a piece of scrap befor trying on a larger piece.

Wow, I did not think I could do something that simple. I can easlity take out the rudder and do this. Now I will have less weight and hopefully it will solve the problem.

Sharpen the ends of the "U" and they will poke in there nice and easy!
