it seems the XXX-s is a better drift setup due to its sealed drivetrain. I'm just wondering if the JRX-S is gonna take over completely. I'd rather not buy something that's about to be outdated. it seems to me that both cars have their purpose. the XXX-s being more for parking lot racing, the JRX-s more for carpet and asphalt race courses.

any insight?

Even though the XXX-S will most likel become phased out, there is still much support for the chassis. Speedtech RC still carries and makes some aftermarket parts. And even though it's not nearly as common as a Yokomo Drift Package or a TT-01, they're still very competent cars.

seems like the losi is a lot more competant of a touring car overall than the tt-01 or the yokomo (that has friction shocks right?).

i'm pretty much torn between the xxx-s and the tc4. i don't really want to consider the jrxs due to its unsealed drivetrain.

i was a long time associated guy (rc10 team car back in 94 or so), and i also had a losi XX-cr that i loved (great fit and finish, great handling)

i might get a chance to race some indoor tracks (carpet? asphalt? not sure) and will definitely be doign some outdoor racing, and tons of parking lot drifting.
the fact that the TC4 just came out seems like a plus. i don't have to worry about it becoming obsolete too quickly, though losi and associated do both support their old models pretty well it seems like.

also shaft drive is better for drift than belt isn't it? i hear the TC's have a bit more torque steer and maybe a little less top end speed than the super efficient single belt losi.

Ahh... The great shaft versus belt debate. I've gotten both, a modified Yokomo MR-4TC SD Drift Package and a Yokomo MR-4TC BD. Both are set up for drift right and and have similar suspension settings. The DP exhibits a lot of torque steer due to the rotation of the shaft itself, and it seems to drift slightly better when the rear end is sliding to the left as seen from behind the car. That is also most likely due to the torque steer. The BD on the other hand, has extremely neutral take offs and exhibits absolutely zero torque steer.

I honestly prefer my BD for drifting, even though my DP is a lot more predictable. The thing is, I've driven my DP for about a year and a half before getting the BD, so I was used to ball diffs front and rear, and direct drive. My BD has ball diffs front and rear, but has a center one-way. The controls are kinda sketchy right now, but with a little more wheel time and dialing in, I am positive it'll spank my DP any day.

When it comes to the XXX-S and the TC4, I think I would go with the XXX-S, especially if it's a Graphite+. Sure, you can bling the living hell out of an Associated chassis, but if you're drifting and racing, what is the real point of it, right? I would love to get a XXX-S G+ right now, but I have too many cars that I have higher on the priority list (Yokomo MR-4TC SDW, Yokomo MR-4TC SD LCG, Yokomo MR-4TC BD Masami Edition, Kawada SV-10 Sigma DC, Tamiya TA-03F, etc.). Haha. Well, whatever you choose, I am positive you will be satisfied.

thanks man. i'm just getting the rtr unfortunately. i might pick up a g+ later on. maybe find a deal on ebay. i really wanna get into brushless i think. when i was into the hobby years ago there was only one brushless setup-aveox. it was like 340 bucks. the novaks are much more reasonable.

The XXX-S RTR2 isn't a bad deal at all. The standard radio alone makes it a great kit, although it's a 27MHz one. It also comes with quality electronics like the JR servo and Novak XRS (I think) ESC.

If you and your friends run 27MHz, you must have everyone run different frequencies. DUH! But with a 27MHz system, you're limited to only 6 frequency possibilities. Spektrum is a great system, and I want to switch to it too. Just thinking of a KO EX-10 Helios or a JR Z-1 Pro with Spektrum makes me smile. LOL.
