Status: offline 		sorry about the long time in responding well i got it together and it weights in about 17lbs bout i have a smoke tank and pump and all the fixings. i have a 3w 42i on it and i gotta tell it flies nice i really havent done much with it havent even took it off low rates. first flight wasnt bad but i did kill the engine with the smoke, the second went really good no problem but i had a case of the shake a bit. the motor needs to be tuned just a bit still. the thrid fight was all right just doing simple stuff a couple small knife edges some rolls and one snap roll but didnt want to push my luck like i said the motor still needs to be turned a bit better. mine balanced good with a justing the batteries around. but the last time i brought down the was a few problems like i read here before the covering started to come off the right wing. i broke 1 servo in the wing dont know how that happened and my pull pull rud came broke but shes home safe.

Status: offline 		Just nosed in my Extra 330 77" last week due to engine out from about 20 feet up.

Mashed up the cowl, broke the tubes off the muffler, and snapped the landing gear in half. The good news is the plane itself was pretty much in tact.

Glue joints behind the engine box, and in front of the wing tube broke loose, but realigned every thing, and glued up with some tri-stock, and she's as good as new. Now just waiting for the new landing gear, CF this time, hope it'll hold up better than the aluminum.

I think you should really break in the motor well before using the smoke system. Killing the engine is a tendency of a smoke sys., and see if you can program your radio to cut the smoke when the throttle is reduced below 1/2. (You may have already done that.)

I got a book on aerobatics from my LHS, and it had a section on smoke systems, how they worked, how best to rig them, and adjustments to make for greater output. If you haven't read something like this, you should. I like the smoke, I'll probably add it to my plane as well just as soon as I feel comfortable with what I know about them.

We put a lot of time and energy into these things, it is such a shame to lose them to engine failure, no matter what the cause.

Status: offline 		i do have it set like that and i noramly wait for about ten flights but i couldn't help my self. and about the engine runs good on the ground and in the air just when i start whipping it around it dont like it to much. my dead stick was nice glided nice that my main worry is that the balance was right but it was nice.ill get some pics. up soon

Where did you mount the smoke oil tank? How many ounces are you using for smoke oil?

(Responce to earlier post) A nice well executed dead stick is a pretty thing to watch. I think my Extra nosed in because of the weight I had to put up front to get the CG right. With the 1.35 Moki up front, it was just wat too tail heavy, even with the battery, the radio gear and the fuel tank moved as far forward as I could get it, I still added 12 oz. of lead to balance.

Now with the new CF landing gear, I think it should be about right. If not, I'll start to remove some of the lead.

Still waiting on ther gear though. The guy called today, and said I should have it by the end of the week..We'll see.

Status: offline 		well in that pic i dint have my fuel tank in. the tank under the wing tube is my smoke tank. i think its a 24oz du bro. here are some pics with it all together. by the way i love this plane. i want to get the bugs worked out be fore i buy the cf landing gear, tail wheel and wing tube i would hate to spend that money then crash it. the way i fly its very good chance balls to the wall, i love it.

Status: offline 		I see. Now I can get a feel for where the tanks all fit. BTW, I love the decals. They're new since the last post. Where'd you get them?

I like the Edge, and I'd like to end up with one of the 77" models at some point. I think the Goldbergs in that size are just about finished though.

I kept looking at them, and compared them with the Wild Hare Baby Edge. I think they're both good planes, and they're priced close enough that it's not a big deal, but then I went and got a Dietrich Extra 260 50cc. Got a good deal on it, so I couldn't pass it up.

I guess the Edge will just have to wait for now.

Status: offline 		thanks alot let me know how that dietech works out for you. when i bought this goldberg i went to a swap meet looking for a da 50 and i found a 3w 42i and the plane. motor was used a bit but not much or he cleaned very good but anyways i also for this goldberg i think i got the plane for 265.00 and the engine for 350.00 i couldnt beat it. the thing is i really wanted a wild hare been tring to get one of them for about 2 yrs. now. that'll be my next one a extra wild hare. the decals, i make thats my side buisness premier vinyl sorry no web page but i can work something out if your intrested i do them fairly cheap i have no over head and i really dont try to make money off individuals my work comes from companies.

I am going to pick up the Goldberg 67" Yak 54...... 180.00$... with 30$ off.... that's 150.00$....

close out deal for sure.....

a 1.20 AX os with a tuned pipe will pull it fairly well...

I hope my CF gear from my Funtana 100X will work in it.....

I've been waiting for that model to come down in price. Everything else seemed to.

This model has been anywhere from $424 down to $374, even the Lanier 87" Edge 540 was $249.99 before they ran out, and I waited too long for that one. Now the 94" Edge is $349, with discount $319. Although that's too big for my car, it's still a good deal. (While supplies last)

I just spent $830 on a Dietich Extra 260, 50cc, and a Brison 3.2 to mount in the nose. (I did really want one of these anyway, hell I want one of everything. You know how it is)

Now that I finally see that Goldberg Edge at a GREAT price,
And now, NO MONEY LEFT!!!

Status: offline 		I think that the 1.50 Saito would power this plane ok. It's in the middle of the power requirement for the plane, so expect moderate performance, maybe a little better. The Saito is a powerful engine.

I have a 1.35 Moki on my Goldberg Extra 330 77", and the same is true for that engine in the 2 stroke. I also have a 1.80 Moki I could have used, but decided to try out the 1.35 first to see what it would do. I'm happy with the performance for now, but I have the larger engine to bolt on later if I choose.

If you're going to run the 4 stroke glow engine, and you don't yet have the engine, then I'd go for the 1.80, or 2.20 Saito. You're sure to have fun with either of those. As you've read, friend Scottr/c used the 3W 42i gasser in his, and he's happy with that one.

Lots of engine choices. Make the most of the plane as you're building it up, and then there's less to redo later to make it more like what you wanted in the first place.
