My bad, you indeed meant a DX6i, which is specified from parkflyers to large gas models. The only limiting factor would be just having 6 channels which could be a challenge if you want to use a kill switch.

I have been pondering this plane and have gone back and forth but I do like the plane a lot and I think I am going to order it and put a Moki 2.10 or a saito 1.8 in it. We will see but I need to get rid of some of the stuff I have before I buy more. I am sure most of you understand that lol.

Thanks

Bryan

I fly my CG Edge 77 very often and it's a real treat. It feels light and super agile in 3d. The kit is really well built and about the only complaint I have is the quality of the covering. Regrettably Goldberg has not used Monokote and it shows. The covering keeps coming off and not just on the wing's leading edge but now even around the turtle deck area. But I tolerate that since the bird really gives plenty of joy. If you are willing to look after the covering every few flights, this is the plane. The DL 50 is more than enough for true unlimited performance.

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (7/25/2008 2:40:04 PM)

I also have had covering problems in the same spots. I orderd a new Edge it should be here today. My son purchased a 50cc for me to put on this plane. This 50cc is a HH engine, I know nothing of this engine manufacturer, but I am a certified small engine technician and see no reason I should not be able to make this little engine run good.This engine came with muffler, electronic ignition, and standoffs.
I was running a Zenoah 38cc in this Edge and am looking forward to a little bigger engine, not sure if it will do unlimited 3d, but I am hopefull for some good power with a 20 or 22 inch prop.

Supercharged , build it light, just a 14oz tank, 1 servo per wing ( 10kgs at least) and lipos with regulators and you'll have a capable 3d machine.

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (7/27/2008 3:56:11 AM)

One servo per-wing. I have heard of this but never tried this. Should I put them in the out board or in-board position? This would be really great if I could do this.
I am using futaba 3305 servo's, they are not the fastest but I believe they are powerful enough.
any info on all this would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome back to r/c flying, Supercharged.

doublesixes -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (7/28/2008 7:16:36 PM)

I'm using HS645 servos on wings. They are strong analog servos that have not given me any trouble so far. I decided to place just one servo per wing and I[image][/image] chose the outboard position. It seemed to me that the force applied to the aileron is better exerted from midpoint. This configuration has over 300 flights and never showed signs of flutter. I also covered the hinge line with heavy duty packing tape.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/2/2008 3:37:57 AM)

Hello friends, some one can give me the exact measurements of the Aluminium wing tube??? i need look for a carbon replacement

Thanks for all

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/3/2008 4:13:11 PM)

As of right now I do not have this plane, mine was totalled and the wing tube was cut in half, I only found half of it, I did reorder this plane but it arrived damaged and had to be sent back, I am in the process of waiting for the new one to arrive. As soon as I receive this plane I will send you the mesurments.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/3/2008 4:19:24 PM)

Oh you are very nice, i really apreciate this . Nicolas

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 3:46:29 AM)

I spoke with Tower today it looks like I will not be seeing my replacement plane for 2 weeks atleast, they said thier warrenty department was running about 1 week behind so it won't be till atleast the end of this week or the next before they even look at this plane and return my replacement.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 3:57:49 AM)

ok i will wait

kmeyers -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 5:56:37 AM)

The wing tube is 30mm (1.181in) the stab is 10mm (0.393in)

If you find a wing tube, let us know.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 12:56:03 PM)

Right! Thank you, can you give me the long of the tubes???

NIcolas

Here is the tail tubes

Very good quality, i bought one for my pacific planes extra 260 tail tube (14mm)

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 3:06:31 PM)

That link did not take me anywhere.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/5/2008 3:55:56 PM)

the system change it,please erase this signs *****

doublesixes -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/6/2008 7:05:00 PM)

The wing tube (mine is black aluminium) is 26.5 inches or about 70 cms long by 3 cms in diameter and it looks to be 1mm thick.

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/6/2008 7:54:20 PM)

when I crashed my Edge that wing tube was cut in half like you it with a saw. It was a wild crash.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/6/2008 8:07:17 PM)

carbon fibre is better in my opinion, very sorry of your loss, have you pictures???

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/7/2008 12:11:19 AM)

I don't have pics of the plane, but I do have on board video I was taking at the time, its posted on you tube here is the link, if it doeasn't work let me know. I can take some pics of what was left of the plane after this if anyone would like to see how small of pieces are left.

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/7/2008 12:51:29 AM)

WOW it looks like you loss all electrical on board power, because the failsafe dont turned off the engine!!! did you use PCM, 2,4???

NIcolas

(you saved a lot of money avoiding the electrical tower)

GAS4ever -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/7/2008 12:58:13 AM)

I think the more frustrating crash is a no signal one!!!!!!
if its make you feeling better here is mi loss. My zenoah g45 decided left the fuselage at a high speed pass

Supercharged6-71 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (8/7/2008 5:50:58 AM)

I was using a 2.4 and I was running a Zenoah G38. Everything was destroyed.
