Ok thats what i was thinking. Weird thing too, I ordered mine 9/2/08 and on 9/3/08 tower stopped showing the plane on their web site. Did I get the last one?? If so sorry guys[:)]. Right after I bought it it was gone!
Anyway, thanks.
Joshua

I just went on tower and the plane still show up just now its limited quantities

PAPE -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/5/2008 7:30:29 AM)

well I opened the box today and whent over all the parts.

the first thing I noticed was the covering, it was full of bubbles. but the covering job was good overall. I will have to iron and heat gun all the parts. I looked over the alerons and I will do a single servo set up on the outer servo bay, this will put less stress on the aleron. The cowl and wheel pants were perfecly painted and looked heavy duty, they will outlast many others. The hardware pack was good quality stuff I will use all of it just not the horn bolts, those will be upgraded. This kit brings a 2 piece landing gear looks verry ruged but its still a 2 piece. the tailwheel looks good too. overall I am verry verry happy with the plane. This kit runs for a low price compared to its competition, (especialy now that Hangar-9 prices whent bonkers) has great quality and is verry compleat. "I recomended to anyone"

rpembert -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/5/2008 11:05:04 AM)

Glad you like it. When I get mine ill take some pics and post'em. I am getting a G38 from RCIgnitions.com. Much lighter than out of the box. We have two G23 that we modded by him that are at least 14 years old. Very strong engines. Anywho, ill keep you guys informed. By the way did I tell you that this is my FIRST GASSER!!!

Cant wait!!!!!!!!!![:D]

Thanks,
Joshua

PAPE -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/5/2008 6:54:04 PM)

Great choice on first gasser, that engine will tune easy and run good. please post out of the box pics I really want to see if your was as bubbly as mine (the covering)

rpembert -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/5/2008 8:19:00 PM)

Will do!!![;)] I take some photos out of the box and during construction. I hope to be able to put a smoke system on her. That would be cool.[8D].

Still in transit. Should be here around Tuesday or Wednesday. I keep looking at the UPS tracking page. Driven me nuts!

If you guys have some pics of your tank setup I would like to see them. I will be using the aft tank setup. Just need some pics to see how its done.

Thanks,
Joshua

PAPE -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/6/2008 8:44:49 AM)

well guys bad news, tower now lists the plane as discontinued, but there are still othere vendors that have some in stock, but I guess when they are gone "they are gone".

rpembert , about the gas tank there are to popular setups, 2 or 3 line tanks, I dont have a copleat pleane with a tank to show you how its done but there are many pics here on RCU, I personaly prefer the 2 line tank one vent line with 2 loops obove the tank and exit on bottom of fuse. and one feed and fill line from the tank to the carb with a fuel dot in between. Just remember everything has to be for gas not nitro. 1. fuel stopper on tank 2. gas lines (tygon) 3. fuel dot (gas) 4. fuel pump and container (gas).

darrolair@yahoo.com -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/8/2008 3:24:38 AM)

I put one of these together and had the first flight today. I have a MT 50cc for power with a 3W 20X8 prop. The plane came in at 13 lbs. 14 oz. Very sweeeet flier with sensitive controls. I guess I'll keeper. There is advise to use tygon fuel tubing for gas engines.
I agree, but don't use it for the fuel pick up line to the clunk.

kmeyers -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/9/2008 12:54:51 PM)

Right darrolair@yahoo.com
Neoprene for the clunk line.
Your setup sounds awsome!

BaldEagel -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/9/2008 2:09:13 PM)

I have been using Tygon for the clunk pick up for four years in three different petrol planes without problems, just ensure you empty the tank after you finnish flying and barb and zip tye the tubing on the clunk and feed tube inside the tank, and if you rearly must change the tubing every couple of years for peace of mind.

Mike

darrolair@yahoo.com -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/10/2008 1:09:21 AM)

BaldEagel,
It's been my experience with Tygon fuel line used on the cluck, it will harden and make inverted flight, while low on fuel, interesting to say the least.
Good luck,
Darrolair

doublesixes -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/10/2008 6:46:31 PM)

A pilot at my field had to replace his Tygon lines in the tank after they became twisted from rolls and downlines. Its clunk was stuck facing forward and would not allow to tank to be emptied. Luckily he did not have any deadsticks. I have used neoprene lines and they seem to hold up better than Tygon. Only my vent line is Tygon.

hk -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/15/2008 4:24:26 AM)

I've just picked this ARF up from a LHS where i was at IMAC this weekend. $249cdn, way too good of a deal to pass up. I'd like to make this my next IMAC plane (was gonna go WH extra50cc buuuuuuttt this was just too cheap for how long we have left to fly here this year) I've abused my other 2 aeroworks Edges (1 60size and a 50cc). This seemed like a great deal and i'd liek to find a solid gas motor choice where i don't have to watch my throttle management as much (my smaller of the 2 is grossly overpowered and gets to be a handful if i get jumpy on the throttle.) One the otherside, my 29% has a G62 and just can't hold it's uplines anymore, had a crash - doesn't wanna track well anymore (also got greedy, added a smoke system). I've been looking at the Evo45, Evo35GT, Brillelli 46(even with them no longer manufacturing engines - i'm sure i can find one). Any suggestions? Before I read this thread and had just looked at the box, the choice was pretty simple, but reading the AUW of most, it just seems like there's a little more to consider now.

Thanks,

hk.

PAPE -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/15/2008 8:21:52 AM)

The thing with the 40-49cc engines are all almost the same weight as most 50cc's mabye you could also consider a prop that will work better for IMAC.
I dont think anything under 40cc will give you nice uplines and almost all 40-50cc engines weight about the same.

I have never had any evo engines but I did have a converted poulan 46 (same engine) with scotts parts on it and it was really powerfull and would work nice with the edge but why not go the extra 4cc's and get a 50cc for the same weight???

mabye you could have a 3D and an IMAC prop.

mautrevinogarza -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/15/2008 10:06:57 AM)

I`ve been using Fuji Imvac BT-43EI-2 43cc Gas Engine with Apc 20x8 prop. its running very well, almost any manouver, it has non stop vertical, but in hover its little bit slow, i think more thrust is needed, . I know that Fuji its not very recomended for hovering, but i would like to know if there is a way to improve it.

I`ve been told to use this 3 different prop Apc 20x8w, Zinger 20x6 Wood Propeller and Zinger 22x6 Wood Propeller.

If any one already try it, or any recomendation, it would be a lot of help for me.

Thanks

PAPE -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/16/2008 10:32:56 AM)

you have to try a difrent brand of prop in the 20x8 size

SkyStalker -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/23/2008 5:13:02 PM)

For a 45-50cc engine, try a Vess 22A prop. they are awesome.

hk -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/23/2008 5:27:14 PM)

I'm ordering a DL50 for it... low budget, good thrust, good weight. Just makin' some small mods to the fuse for a different tank etc. pretty good build so far though. Thanks for the input.

You won't regret going with the DL-50. It will fly your Edge unlimited in every way. I strongly advice going with a powerful 45 or 50 cc gasser if 3d is in the scope. Never understood the posters that recommended glow and staying away from gas engines with this bird. Obviously they never had a chance to fly this plane with 5+ HP in the nose. Not to mention the savings in fuel.

SkyStalker -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/23/2008 8:56:43 PM)

You are right this airplane flies great with a 50cc. It is a petty it has been discontinued.

Ya, figured as much. Couldn't believe that by ditching 5-7oz in the nose you'd also be ditching between 8 and 15lbs of thrust.

I've got a bigger Gas Edge and a nitro one too.. the Nitro is a bloody .60 size and costs me 3x as much as my 30% AW Edge to run for a weekend. This CGP one will become my new 3D'r in the spring (lost my yak to elevator flutter earlier this year and have spent the money and time playing in IMAC since). I've got a 33% Extra 260 planned for the winter which will take this guys place for IMAC next year.

Richmor52 -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/26/2008 7:56:59 PM)

Hey,
Has anyone had the chance to fly theres yet how dose the CG Edge land mine is around 14 pounds with a Roto 35Vi hould fly it this sunday.
Thanks Rich

darrolair@yahoo.com -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/27/2008 12:47:22 AM)

Richmore,
It's a floater at 14 lbs. Don't know where your C of G is. Mine is sweeeet.
Good luck,
Darrol

doublesixes -> RE: CARL GOLDBERG 77" EDGE 540 (9/27/2008 1:23:58 AM)

I think...not so sure but my CG is where the wing tube is. I've been using wing tubes as a rule of thumb for all of my birds. So far so good.
