Yes, that 60 cycles per second is a pretty fast hum, but just think, a typical reedie will run at 250 CPS, a Cyclon might hit 600, and I've seen the GZ hit 700 HZ! I took a look at one of my experimental 48" foamies, and all it has for a spar is a single length of 3/16x1/2, buried into a groove on the top of the wing. The spar goes out 3/4 of the way to each wing tip, so it is about 36" long. These 17 oz planes seem a little bit doggy with AP power, so I've been playing with a AP to try for more RPM. If these APs could be made to run with the BIG MIGS, then having them in plentiful supply at TOWER for $40 makes me care less about what NORVEL is up to.

Leave the window open and if you hear bugs getting zapped, then it's on.

This afternoon I'm going to start a dedicated foam cutting bench. The bow will be suspended above it. There's still several points to clear up. Like using weights for the gravity feed. Do you just tie the same size weights to both sides? How much weight?

The most important question: What angle should the table be built at?

ok, this may be a little odd & overboard, but in the 1/2A forum its probaly will fit in

What about adjusting templates to accomodate a roller wire guide on the bow? Instead of dragging the wire across the template, roll across the template with a lil' foamie wheel or something slightly forgiving of template burrs

PT,

You use 1 weight and a lever. Where you connect the pull strings to the lever determines the pull speed. So, if both the left and the right are both attached at the same place on the lever, they will pull at the same speed. If you move one of them to another spot on the lever, then one will move faster, creating a tapered wing. See this website for details. http://www.public.iastate.edu/~orman/air/cutter/hotwire.html Go to the bottom of the page to see drawings.

Take a look at the feather cut table if you are going to be Mr high tech. That is a pretty cool set-up if you are looking for all out wire cutting. Other wise go with the Kiss methods you have been shown here.
