If they are brand new boats, you should not be going full throttle at all. You need to run about six tanks of fuel through the engines to get them broken in. What I do...is set the HSN at 3 turns out. I run two tanks through it at this setting. After the second tank, I go in an eighth turn and run another tank. I keep doing this until the engine is broken in and running well. If the motor is gettig up on pipe in the first few tanks (normally won't), I back out of the throttle so it is not going full throttle. There is a lot of friction in the first few tanks that won't be there after the engine is broken in. So you need to take it easy on the engine while breaking it in. After about 4 or 5 tanks you will see it pick up in speed. At about 6 or 7 tanks it should pretty much be broken in and running well. Most of the AQ engines I have got seemed to run well at about 2.25 to 2.50 turns out on the HSN when they are freshly broken in. For some reason, as the engines get wore out, they seem to like richer settings until they finally let go. As a general comment, running the engine a little rich is a lot better than running it lean (it will last a lot longer). So once you find the boats fastest needle setting, you might want to back it out an eighth of a turn to run a little rich. Just my 2 cents, I am sure if you ask 10 different people how to do it, you will get 10 different answers. As to props...I got a lot of cavitation from the stock plastic prop...but as I recall, it was mainly just in the turns. Another guy told me that he pushed the prop deep to keep it from cavitating. I run the Octura Y535s on my kids boats at about 3/4 of an inch deep (bottom of the hull to the center of the stuffing tube where it goes into the strut). I used to turn the steering a little back and forth if it cavitated during the launch. Might just be in my head, but it seemed to help the prop grab a little better. Hope this helps, Sean
