ORIGINAL: camaross305 Yea im not sure if i want to hack up the hull just yet. Im thinking about Getting the **** turn fin, lighter collet, and rudder. Also getting the cooling coil from a NV for the header. Then put on the cooper pipe and keep running 50% nitro. Should i remove the head shim with 50% nitro? Also how are you guys adjusting the angle on the prop strut? I can only get mine to adjust up and down. I see that 3/4in is a good adjustment with a y535. Is that from the top of the brass tube to where the middle of the hull ends? Stock, with some elbow grease on the stock hardware and a Y535, it will go about 34-35MPH. Best I have seen GPSed was 35.2 MPH. That was on 40%, so you should be able to get a little faster than that using 50%. Hopefully you will see more than that with the cooper pipe too. My guess would be high 30s. If your goal is 40 MPH, and you want to keep using the stock motor...you probably need to listen to Jerry... Another options is the CVRM. The CVRM should take your boat into the low 40s with no modification to the ride surfaces of the hull. As to cutting on the cowl...most folks cut out the back of the fake turbine exhaust, and cut out the inlets to the two little hood scoops toward the front. If you remove the flotation when you cut out the rear of the cowl, make sure you add some back in. Remember, all it needs to do is keep your cowl from sinking...so you don't need much, but make sure you test it before you realize you don't have enough. If you plan on racing, check with your local club to see what they will allow you to do and still remain in the "stock RTR" class before you do any mods. An aftermarket rudder would put you in the mod class where I have run. The collet you are looking at, is an octura collet. The benefit has little to do with weight, and more to do with it being a better piece of hardware. Their (the banned place you tried to mention) comment about it not taking two different size wrenches is not true. It does take two different size wrenches, and why it would be a positive, if it took only one...I dont know. It sells for $10 at most places. www.Offshoreelectrics.com has them for $9.95. Sean
