Well I will be back to our lake property at the end of this month and a couple family members will be there with their boats as well and was hoping not to be on the sidelines watching. As far as annoying you that was not my intention I just saw that the part was on back order and was trying to have a backup plan and didn't want to wait untill the last minute. I was also under the impression that this was a site where like minded people could come and share and help others out, I certainly would if I could. Apparently I was wrong Ron and you won't see me here again! Thanks to those of you who were trying to help but I will figure something else out.

OK guys i have a serious problem, just wondering what you would do. I got my vegas about 2 months ago, had a bugger of a time getting it going, after this and that finally got it running and its been awesome. Then My gas tank spiderwebbed and cracked causing gas to leak every where. Broke the rudder off at the hinge point ( i swear i didnt hit anything i looked all in the water) had to replace that (with a new nylon bolt) and now the latest thing is i was driving the boat great, lost radio control about 20ft out from me went full speed into the sand on the beach (thank god) and destroyed one of the bearings in the engine which caused metal shavings to go all the way through.... So what do i do? Take the whole boat back and say i want a new one? or just get a new engine? I am kinda thinking i want a new boat because of the hassels... am i being too unreasonable? if for whatever reason i cannot get the warrenty on this is it worth upgrading to a os. CVRM .18? since it is more or less a drop in? I love the boat, just had a lot of issues....

Hey everybody, I've been monitoring this form for quite some time now and thought I would drop a line. I've been in the hobby for about ten years now but took a couple of years off. I am now back in it and have two Miss Vegas'. Here are some photos of the newest.

Hey shawnp2k,

I wouldn't let a few little problems get you down. The MV is a great boat, there is no reason to get rid of it because of an engine. You have two choices, either replace the whole engine or fix the existing one. Best bet is to buy a new one. If you want more performance get an OS CVRM it is a direct bolt in. If you are feeling more adventurist upgrade to an OS TZ which will get you in the 40's. One more thing, you said you lost radio control about 20 ft. out. That shouldn't happen, make sure you wrap a piece of tape around your batteries in the radio box so they don't come loose while driving the boat, that could be a reason why you lost communication with the boat.

I forgot to put in the post that there was new batteries in the pack. Ive had the problem of the batteries comming out before now i use zip ties. When i went and got the boat the servos were fine had complete control. I sent the engine back to aquacraft for replacement. The rear bearing blew apart and it took the piston and sleave with it. apperently there is a 2 year warrenty with the engine. However knowing my luck i wont get it. I have been thinking of doing the drop in with the .18 CRVM but if i dont have to pay for a new engine i wont..... Oh and two of my other boats threw a con rod and broke a flex cable.... not my week for boatin..

I got the Vegas up and running yesterday. No tank problems sofar. I'm using cool power 30% Heli fuel in it,and have run about 12 tanks full. After the "breakin" period, the Vegas looked quick, but my friends SV 27 litterly blew it away in a ten lap race. I need to do some more fine tuning on the boat, and hopefully it will at least keep up. The ONLY real problem I have is,it melts the tyraps(plastic ones) off the silcone header coupling. The coupling is fine, but after three tyraps,I just left them off for the rest of the day. What are you guy's using? I thought about small hose clamps, but I'm not sure if they come in that small of a size? The boat is a blast to run. I noticed that when it would come down the straight aways, the left sponson would be completely off the water. The turn finn wat set (angled back) and I think it had allot to do with that,as it was acting like a scoop, with the front edge angling downwards. I set it at 90 degrees with the sponson last night, and will try it out today. Great boat, and it's gonna be allot of fun. Ron

Ron, The problem is that the header is getting too hot. What people are doing is putting on the Grimracer cooling line from the Nitro Super-Vee 27.

Or if you don't want to order and wait for the cooling line, heat a piece of 1/8" brass tubing with a propane torch until it has been cherry red all along it's length & let it cool slowly. Wrap it around the header and coat the whole wrapped coil with JB Weld. Then plumb it into your cooling line and you're all set. No more coupler and tie wrap problems. Makes your engine and glo plug last longer too I suspect!

Ron,Thanks for the info. There is a race at Evansville,on the 19-26 of this month. I can't wait to see the races, and check out the boats. /beaverboy,thanks for the info. Being lazy "by nature" I'll just order one from Tower,if they are in stock. Ron PS. what is a good aftermarket prop for this boat? (I'm never gonna hear the end of it,about getting blown away by the SV)

The Grim prop was a couple MPH slower than an octura Y535 on a modified Miss Vegas...never did any GPS testing on a stock one...

39.3 MPH Y535
41.1 MPH Y535
35.2 MPH Grim prop
35.8 MPH Grim prop
42.6 MPH Y535
41.1 MPH Y535

Just my results...yours may vary...

Thanks, again for the info guy's! Sean.were those results with a basically "stock" boat? I've been also thinking about doing the removal of the rear section of the turbine outlet, but haven't heard if this was a good mod to do or not. Ron

The Hull is stock other than removing the wing and opening the hull up a little for cooling (opened up the scoops on the front and the fake turbine exhaust on the back). The engine is a CVRM, pipe is a MACS, prop as noted, turn fin is a grim fin, Rudder....I think might have been a modified stock one back then...either that or the "Speed Phreak RC" one I run now.
