Hope you guys have better luck with the towers scratch and dent than i purchased with "Carton Damage only"They forgot to mention the carton was damaged by the forlift
Another purchase as "carton damage only" left me with a broken stand and sponson.
By the look of the amount of scratch and dent Miss Vegas they dropped a pallet.

The sponson was badly damaged and the transom was broken all the way across rear and the spoiler was broken.

The carton was fine. Just leaves a sour taste in my mouth for the scratch and dent..

They looked after me anyway.

Here is a little video for everyone to enjoy. This is my wife's very first attempt at filming boats and making the video and I think she did a good job. This was on the day where I was doing the break in of my boat (orange and blue) so I was running very rich and bogging quite a bit. At the end the orange and white boat stopped because his motor locked up. All in all we had a great time on the water.

That's a great video. Right at the end, looks like a "Tony Steward NASCAR" move.

I'm having some motor issues also I would like some help on. I have put about 6 tanks of fuel through it and I have been leaning out the last couple tanks to try to stop it from bogging down. I am now at 1.5 turns out and my boat will run fine for a while and then it starts to slow down. I also burnt a zip tie off the exhaust coupling. I never really here the motor running like it getting full power except in the corners and then it does speed up. The motor will get slower and slower the longer I run. I still have the stock glow plug and I'm running 30% trinity fuel. Using grim turn fin and twisted coupler and prop. Any ideas for me to try?

Hi Bruce,
Sounds like the engine is too lean. Richin it up 1 turn, run it, bring it in, lean it just a few clicks, run it, bring it in, lean it a few clicks. Keep doing this until the engine is making power. After that, do not lean it anymore, it will just slow down.

Have fun!

In addition to what Russ said, remember that an engine needs to be richened in cool weather. If you had it flying on a 90 degree day and you're now running it on a nice cool 70 degree morning, you need to richen it up before running.

Thanks for all the help. Had some free time today at the firehouse so I went to work. Had some good help today also.
Here is what I did
I richened it back up
Put a O'Donnell purple plug in
Greased the shaft
Set the prop depth 7/8" under the transom.
Took out the shim in the motor

Took it out back to a big pond in the neighborhood behind the station.
It ran like a scalded dog. I couldn't be happier on how it ran today. I flew across the water. Russ thanks for the great info. Piper thanks for that info I did not know that. My neighbors better watch out now.

What would you guys recommend for plugs when burning 30% boat fuel.

i have mccoy #59 and 9.
os #8
Towers standard.
odonell red dot that the package suggests 5-20% nitro I beleive.

shouldi pick up something better. My buds boat works well on O.s # 8 but was wondering if this would be the plug of choice.

Both myself and my neighbor put O'Donnell Purple plugs in our Vegas' and we are running 30% and you could see a definite difference with this plug. I highly recommend it but then again I'm no expert.

My tool box has all 3 of these, plus a few more. I use the OS #8 in planes where I'm running lower nitro, usually 15%. I use the McCoy MC-59 in plane and boat engines when I'm running lower nitro, typically 25% or less. For higher nitro, I use 50%, I usually use the McCoy MC-9 plug. At 30%, the MC-9 would be the best to start with. You could also try an MC-59 also to see what happens. However, be aware that if you use a plug that's too hot (MC-59 and OS #8 are both hotter than the MC-9), you will need to set the mixture richer to help keep the engine cooler. It's not a direct cause of the "hotter" plug, it has to do with potential predetonation.

Make sure the prop has downward angle and is not parallel with the bottom.

Let me know if you do, I know a couple of racers that live in Indy always looking for someone to run with. One offered to let me stay at his home in September for the Indy Hydro Masters.

As a side note to Miss Vegas owners or potential future owners, please try to keep your Vegas questions in one forum such as this one or the other. This page is already cluttered with too many Vegas threads and keeping everything in one or two neat threads is much easier. Some people may not want to read through as many pages as we currently have and start a new one just to get a question answered that has already been covered more than once.
Unless you have customized your boat with either hardware, decals or paint, we've already seen them out of the box.
Any other threads started like "I just got my Miss Vegas!" will be tossed. The same will go for other boats also so I'm not singling out the Vegas owners but any popular boat thread currently running.
This was written in response to a PM that I got from one of the members who shall remain nameless yet I had to agree with this person that there are way too many threads going on right now concerning this boat.
I am not angry nor should anyone else be, it simply helps to keep it all together. If what I have in mind comes to the site, you may see some changes coming soon that will benefit all Aquacraft owners.

well guys i replaced my engine with a new spare i had and broke it in by the book and although i cannot even smell my buddy's vegas
it runs better that it did so i'll have to "settle" for that.

They are both setup exactly the same and same fuel and glow plug and his just flys around the markers and pulls strong on the straights. he is running the stock tank, no elastic and i have a well sealed plane tank.I am thinky of changing tanks back just for fun.

I blueprinted the bottom of the hull and had excellent direction but perhaps I screwed up.
I have about 2 quarts through my 2nd engine is it possible it is not completely broke in And his is ?

KInda grasping at straws now

Terry

Hey Jerry I have been playing with the m435\3 and just curious what kind of strut depth you had with this prop? it was a bit windy today and I had taken the rear wing off the boat, it ran great in the rough water, it just keeps getting better and better. I feel as though the m435\3 is a LOT quicker in the turns. blew up a recoil today though, i was done anyway, but question? any thoughts on the bushing in the back plate being the source of an airleak especially at topend. engine began to get irratic with a topend needle. I have left the engine stock for now and I think I am going about as fast as I can stock. would love to try adding 1\8th to the back of the front sponsons and taper to zero about 3 inches foward. am going to keep this one stock for Sam to drive but may have to get one myself and immediatly put a 21 in it. The sport twenty boat is a lot of fun to run the OS 21 vz-m is an interesting engine. I have a picco 67 that Tom Grannis built for me that uses the water cooled button around the glow plug, what an incredible running engine. Look foward to seeing you in Wichita and Sam is really Pumped, he did great today working the throttle through the rough water and can hardly wait for race day.

Thanks

Kelly
