Im not sure about King as its name says it all "MISS".lol Hay I had a post booted yesterday and it was to you james, "off topic" was the reason It was some pictures of the tc31 that i took running.....NO, it was not a miss vegas, But it was on topic as we had been talking about the race that me and you are going to have WITH the miss vegas sunday. So all-in-all it was a miss vegas topic as it has everything to do with seeing the performance of the miss vegas against another RTR boat with mods! Correct me if Im wrong here!

Hey james,,

It's all stock. we're running with a bit of negative on the prop. You said running 5mph is running lean, but after we get it in a good turn, it just hauls booty. It just wants to load up all the time. Most of the time we're lucky to get it to haul butt, other times we're just waiting for it to kick in.

We just changed out the clunk to a airplane clunk so hopefully that will help a little bit. We're ordering up a Miss LLama fuel tank for it too.

Also, we get a bit of water in the hull. Is there a way to drain the water while the boat is running?

Thanks

-Tomi

Vegas Fans.

Let me see if I can help clarify a few things as well. Thanks for your help James while we were out racing.

First.. Please if you remove the foam from your cowl make sure you put some in the cowl some other place. It does not take much to make the cowl float but losing a cowl is a bummer.

The biggest issue with the cable coupler is not the size or weight.. it’s the run out. If you look close and you are taking time to align the coupler take the time to check the flywheel and collet as well. The weight of the factory coupler is not such a bad thing if you are lookin for pure speed. The extra weight will help the boat launch the prop.

If your boat is speeding up in the corners and bogging in the straights first make sure you are plenty rich. Then start tucking the rudder under the boat. Just a small amount at a time! (note) you might have to clearance the top (leading edge) of the blade to get enough movement. What this does is starts to pin the back of the boat in the corners making it easy to set the needle. Also it’s a good idea to sharpen the bottom of the rudder. You do not want the rudder acting as a lifting point. It makes plenty of lift the way it is.

The Grimracer Turn Fin needs to be sharpened as well. Leading edge (outside only) and bottom as well. Make it as sharp as you can. I use 150 grit on a block to cut it to shape and finish up with 400 wet and oil.

I have yet to blow off a Miss Vegas. I really like the boat and it’s a blast to drive.

BTY.. the wings on the boat weigh over 6oz.. if you like and don’t mind the looks try running your boat with them off.. The CG on the boat is quite aft and the removal of the wings will help adjust this. Make sure you keep the wings in good shape however for show time.

guys ,

last night i greased my vegas driveshaft and where the metal part of the shaft runs in the bottom of the strut.

i tightened it up good and pulled on it firmly as the directions stated.

i went about 3laps or 500" and the whole assembly came out of the coupler and i lost everthing from the coupler back to the prop.

i replaced it with parts from my other the vegas that was purchased between 2 of us for parts.
it stayed in for the rest of the night so i figured all is well.WRONG......

I went to try my boat again tonight and the same thing happened so no testing.

I tightened the shaf exatly as per directions, left the space between the washer and strut and puuled to check tightness.

is this a problem anyone else is having?
am i doing something wrong ?
is the miss llumar coupler a better setup?
will aquacraft replace them?

Man i am bumbed i waited months for my boat.

In all the running I've done with Miss Vegas boats, and that's a bunch, I've never blown a flex drive out of the coupler. I do tighten the $#^! out of the coupler when installing the flex cable into the coupler. We ran the pi$$ out of 6 Miss Vegas hulls at the IMPBA Internats and never blew out a flex drive.

I'm not saying it cannot happen, because it obviously did. I just have not experieced that problem and probably because I really cinch down on the cable.

thanks jerry,
I could not beleive it either i loosened it nice to get the shaft way into the coupler, tightened it so far that it jammed the 10mm wrench and had to wiggle it out then I gave it a REAL good pull and it never budged on the shore.

is it possible that I am putting the shaft too far in the sleeve with the slot in it.i did not think so because i only had the 1/8" in between the washer and the strut.

I ordered some parts but man i do not want to be loosing more and the down time sucks.
I am going fishing with a very large magnet since the water is only about 10' deep and i have a goog idea where they fell off

I have very good mechanical skills but is there a "trick" that i might be missing?

OK....Terry let me solve your issue on losing the driveshaft....first it has nothing to do with the coupler being tight or not tight.....Vegas I am sure is not aware of this, but because we test the boats...we are....

We got our new Vegas boats today....the factaory has made a big boo boo....the shaft is backwards....AquaCraft or the shaft maker for them....has put the prop dog on the wrong end...LOL...I know you are saying huh?

Well it simple...look at you Vegas shaft {in your old Vegas}....it is spiral in shape....if it is put in backwards...it pulls its self out, just like a screw backing out of its hole....what happends is it cant pull out...so it shreds and forces the coupler to release the shaft because it un-whines...we started our new Vegas at lake mead today...and the shaft came out on land...here is what we noticed....the shaft is catching on the coupler joint where the shaft tube and the strut meet....it destroyed our our shaft tube...I dont know how many Vegas shafts got out like this, but I am sure when AquaCraft becomes aware of this...they will help in fixing it.....we took a old shaft and put it in the Vegas...no issues....when placing the old shaft and new shaft in the same view it was very clear the issue...but for half hour we were like what the hey!!!!

So barrow a old one....but remove the strut to see...she is still clean on the end of the driveshft tube....if not it will mark up you new one....

P.S. We want to hold a IMPBA EVENT at lake Mead....nice place...to many tourist.... Bring a umbreela..it's freaking hot....lol

James, posting the video is no big deal. You can use any place including your site to link the video to as long as any member doesn't have to sign up to view it. This site recommends two places but I haven't had any luck with uploading vid's to either one of them. Photo Bucket did work fine for me though and doesn't require a membership to view them.

PRICELESS

Terry let me seek if I too can add some light to this subject.

When you tighten the coupler did you notice if the larger outer part of the coupler was running into the smaller part.. near the end of the threads on the smaller inner part.. When the coupler is tight you should still see threads on the smaller coupler. If you do not see threads when the coupler is tight the coupler is bad.

Also..

All the cables for the Miss Vegas are left lay.. Even if the MFG was to turn the cable around before assembly it would still be a left lay cable.. It does not matter witch end you assemble the stub shaft too it can not be installed backwards. With the direction the engine turns the cable is constantly tightening its self. In essence shrinking as its used. This is the reason you need to leave a gap between the back of the strut and the drive dog on the stub shaft (prop shaft). A good rule of thumb is to leave a distance that is one dia of the shaft.. i
