anyone know where i could by some driveline parts as mine are at the bottom of the pond and Towers is out of Drive dogs.

mike,

There was no threads showing on the smaller part of the coupler and the 15 mm part went far enought ahead to tighten on the 12 mm wrench to the point i had to wiggle the wrench to get it out.I did hive it a good tug and the thing"seemed" tight but i will however admight I have no experince with this type of boat.

Could someone perhaps Mike, post some pics of the setups that your using such as rudder angle prop depth and thrust angles.
I tried the a balanced and sharpened y535 once before i lost my driveline and it woulddie in the straights like the engine would load up.

If properly setup will an octura y535 sharpened and balence work well on this boat?

Struggling Terry..

At the AquaCraft Challenge, the metal Y535 was used in the Champions' Challenge. Jerry Crowther won all three heats with a prop that Mike Z. had just balanced and sharpened.

Check with Chris Fine - FineDesignRC.com for cables/drive dogs/Octura props. What is used on the Miss Vegas is also very popular with FE racers.

Terry,

Octura also makes a 1/8" drive dog. it will work on your Aquacraft cable.

I can try and post some pics but the boat is at work and im heading to a race this weekend. I leave in a few hours.

Let me see what i can do when i get back.

No. I've been using the Hughey flex cables on my boats. Fine Design has them.

does any one know why you would sand the bottom of the Vegas? i would think this would cause drag. i was also wondering if you waxed it like a surf board if that would reduce drag?

Sanding the bottom creates tiny air bubbles reducing friction between the hull and water. Did you ever notice that some sailboats have a rough surface to them? This is why.
Some waxes don't work well on hulls as carnauba's will "ball up". I don't know about surfboard wax as there isn't much surfboarding where I live. Snow ski wax maybe.......

re: reving coming out of a corner

I ran a new white "Miss Vegas" this morning and began with a very rich needle-valve setting. The engine would rev in the corners. This is caused by the fuel moving away from the pickup and leaning the engine. As I continued to lean down the engine, the higher revs in the corner lessened.

fuel needle setting question.

Ok i'm on my 5th tank. i had my needle down to 1 and 1/2 turns and the engine still runs cool but the exaste pipe hot. it's doesn't sound like it is running rich. what are your average needle settings? i don't want to run mine to lean and burn it up. but from what i understand is if the engine is cool and the pipe is hot then it's still rich.

Next question. i'm toping out at 25.9 mph and i have to keep a slite right turn the hole time to keep it on the pipe. as soon as i straightn out i'm bogging down like too much drag. what would case this?

and one more my vegas is taking on water bad in the turns. i get her turning just a bit sharp and the engine revs like no tomorrow untill i let off. like a pocket of air is under the prop. this is where i take on most of the water. any hints as to how to stop this?

Thanks a mill guys

What is your prop depth? I'm running 7/8" from the bottom of the boat to the top of the strut. The strut was set deeper at the factory. You might even try running at 3/4" prop depth.

As long as the engine is not overheating, the pipe temp can get pretty hot. I think I'm around 3 turns on the needle with 30% fuel.

I'm running 20% if that helps any. i'll check the prop settins in am. i know they are still factory. theonly mods i've done are re rought fuel in line and cut up the vents for better air flow. working on a cold air intake/snorkel as well.

bought a octuray535 prop and did the whole routine for props and i it runs slower now then before,so i am putting back on the stock prop for now...i probably did something wrong in the process of sharpening the prop, well i know i did..anyways i also have a couple spots where i hit something in the water(a turtles head)the paints peeled off.will i loose speed because of this??

Try removing some of the "tongue" from the metal Y-535. This will lessen the blade area. There is a difference between the metal Y-535 and the plastic one that comes with the boat. There's more blade area in the metal prop.

o-k i shuld be back in bussiness soon.I received my parts. One key thing i noticed with the new coupler and cable is, when it is installed and tight there is aprox 1.5 threads showing on the small part of the coupler and also i noticed if remove the outside of the coupler and remove the engine to expose the peice of coupler that is wedge shaped and has a slot in it, The flex cable protrudes throught this peice aprox 1/8 inch

I dont think it is hitting on the end of the crank but i will check .If it is hiiting the crack should it be trimmed off and if so how are the cables cut to prevent fraying.

I wouldn't worry about the cable hitting the end of the output shaft.

I ran a new white Miss Vegas yesterday w/o any problem with the cable coming out. However, I really put a Gorilla cinch up on the coupler.

Who did you get the replacement parts from? That is pretty fast service.
