nope the vegas has it beat in turns I think it might be driver error though as earlier before the race I ran into a marker snapping the rudder clean off and knocking the radio box loose! We were just glad someone let me borrow a rudder from them and I had some JB quick on hand so I was a little corner shy, I really didnt want to damage someone elses rudder. The boats are just about equal in a race!

James or Mike
What were the dimensions of the track you were running on?

When is the rudder going to available that has the water inlet on the bottom?

Bruce

The IMPBA cource is 330' long and 60' wide. ( 1/3 mile ) and or 275' ong and 15' wide ( 1/4 mile ).

James thats a cool video. That trip on the front was cool to watch. What was cool is that it triped on the fin and then hit the left sponson and then came back down upright, that was cool.

Do you have any video of that 52 mph run? That would be cool to see. Also what was the setup to do that. Pipe lenght, prop, fuel, plug...

Keep the camara running

Cool! At first I thought that somehow you got it dirty until I looked closer at the pix and saw the trick paint job. That has to be the first time (maybe second) that I've seen it used on a boat.

Finally had time to change the fuel tank to the mis lumanar tank and run the boat. Still had the problem of leaning out going into the corners so put the original tank back in the boat as the new tank made no difference at all as I hoped it would. Will have time to run the boat some more today and not much else left to try as I have tried about everything that has been suggested and that I have come up with. Jerry

actually the snorkel i came up with on my own. the rest i picked up in this forum thread though. i'm working on a forced air throw aluminum fins like an inner cooler for a car that is turbo charged.

and for the paint questions.... base brush clear. the only time i do work over clear is when i use a special chrome that you guys will see soon. yeap chrome paint that is 95% effective to chrome. runns about 150 Bucks a half pint though.

Brownvhf,

Lets review.

Tuck the rudder under as far as it will go. (grimracer hint.... cut 1/2" off the bottom the rudder its a tad long) make sure you sharpen the bottom of the rudder or at least round it over
Set the strut so that the " bottom" of the strut and the " roof" of the tunnel are 7/8 apart"
Set the srtut angle at around 2deg neg
Blueprint the bottom of the sponsons ( sand and sharpen ) .. make sure both the ride pads are dead flat and all the corners area sharp
Octura Y-545 metal? if so make sure its razor sharp as well as the rudder and turn fin.
richen the boat up and work to twords lean

Tuning a boat can take some time. stick with it your doing fine...

You can unscrew the adapter and use some SI sealer on that.. the cover (mine leaks a little air) has not caused any running problems with mine.. if you just fill and let the cap shut.. then just a light push to make sure it down.. that is all i have needed to do to mine.

Thanks for the info as once the boat did run like I thought it should, without any slowing at all. The rest of the time though fast through the turns, slows down on the straits. Am running a octura y-535 metal prop that has been sharpened, balanced and polished. Not positive if this is the best prop but it is what I have now and what I've read most of the people run on the boat. Also running 13/16 in from bottom of boat to top of strut cable and the grim racer turn fin. Think I will replace the rudder as not happy with amount of water coming out of the tube on the side of the boat but temp running about 160 to 175 degrees depending how long of a run time. Have run 14 tanks of fuel through so far. Jerry

got the vegas to a clean pond today. lakes where to choppy and grassy. this pond we ran in is small but NO grass. actually got 28.5mph out of her today. i was impressed for a small pond. uploading our run to streetfire.net and will post later. also got the hammer wipeout at the end. made our own strips for the bottom of the boat. seams to work GREAT. exept when the radio gets wet and she takes off full throttle to the bank. wished we would have gotten that on tape. hehe.
