Reza, Hi it's Scott. I'm installing the control horns on my 73" Yak and I have a question about the rudder. It says to cut away the covering but I'm not sure of the location. I had no problem finding them on the other surfaces. The rudder looks like it's solid wood with no slot cut out for the horn to slide through once the covering is removed. Do you have to cut through the wood too? I had a light on it and it looks like solid wood with no slot cut through it to me. My other question is kind of stupid I think but does the angle of the control horn point toward the front of the plane or rear once it's installed. I would think the front since thats where the servo wires for the pull pull comes from but the picture looks like they are pointed toward the rear of the rudder not toward the front of the rudder or airplane I should say. Thanks for your help as always,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Yes, it's towards the front of the plane. but as far as your other problem, did you say one side has the slot and the other side, doesn't? If that's the case, I'm sorry you need to cut the slot exactly like the other side in opposite direction. You can do that with xacto knife. For the exact location, if you have doubt you need to call Quique. I do not have that plane to be able to make measurement for you. Man, it's a bummer! See if you can make slot, otherwise seek more help with dimension from Quique. Really sorry to hear that. Keep me posted please.

Thank you,
Reza

Hi Reza, Neither side seems to have a slot cut in the wood through the rudder. I just dont see it. Even with a light on it it seems to be solid wood on both sides.

Reza, I found the spot and it is cut out so it was just me overlooking. Thanks for being there for us all even if it is something so silly such as this. Had a bad day today as my Edge died and I had a rough landing and broke up some of the guts. Now I need to repair it. I know this is'nt the place to talk about that but I'm frustrated as I just got home with it. Anyway, thanks again for all you do for us here.

Hi Scott,

I'm glad it worked out for you. Sorry to hear about your Edge but as long as it's repairable, you should be fine. Just do one thing at a time so you can concentrate. Either work on the Edge or Yak. Get one done and clean up before you do the next one. Just a suggestion. I have had things of similar nature happened to me and from experience doing 2 major things at the same time, made really frustrated and extremely un-orgonazied.

Let me know if I could help you with anything,
Reza

Reza, I know this is not the place so maybe I'm wrong to ask but do you now of another 50cc Edge I could buy to put my DA 50 in? I would like to buy your Yak, the 85" one but it recommends a 50 to 80cc motor. I dont know if the 500DA will do the 3D stuff I want to do if you offer a 80 size for it to. I want to be able to shoot out of a hover with authority and I dont know if the 50 will do it since you say a 80 can be installed. I have a wild Hare edge now and I'm really thinking of seeling it for another Edge. What do you think?

Scott,
I have the same combo on my 85" (DA50) and I love it. You can do all the 3D you wish and it pulls out of hover with Authority. As far as edge goes, I think Dave Patrick Models have a good one but needs a little touch up to make it suitable for DA50. I have never had an Edge, all the planes I had except for Yak have been "Extra 330L and 260". BTW, the H9 Extra 260 is a fun plane with lots of power with DA50.

Without wanting to make any sell here as I am honestly not that kind of person, I truly believe the QQ-Yak 85" is just an awesome flying plane. I say this after experiencing other 50 size planes. Take a look at some videos on my site www.gholamipour.com/rcplanes Watch video #15, it's short! I have gotten a lot better than that video but I'm not there yet

Good luck,
Reza

Reza, I just wanted you to know that I overlooked and found the slot cut out for the rudder control horn. Thanks for the help and it was definatly my stupidity of over looking the correct position for it. Man I'm glad we have you for the smart and dumb questions that coome up. Thanks, Scott

Thanks Scott. There is no dumb question! To ask before you do if you are not sure is always a smart thing to do!

Have fun,
Reza

Reza,
How's it going? My Yak is still not finished (73" but it's getting there. I have had no time to put it together lately. I did watch your video and I wish I would have bought the 85" Yak instead of my Edge. I really like the looks of it. I called the store today and was told a new 86" Yak will be here toward the end of the year. I think I will wait for it or maybe at that time just buy the big one. I have a new 80cc engine and was told it would'nt be a good combo for the 102" Yak. It would be for the new 86" though. I really want a bigger one but dont have the money for the bigger engine. Oh well, we'll see how it all pans out.
