Just to let everyone who might be interested know,
The first 2006 season race for USRA - Giant Scale Race event, is coming up soon.
The date: 6/23 - 6/25 with practicing starting on 6/22
The place: Rantoul Airport @ Rantoul, IL.

This is the first race of the season and all the planes should be there, and it will no doubt be the most excitement you'll have at an Rc event.

The worlds greatest Giant scale race pilots will all be there reaching speeds from 165 mph in stock class to over 235 mph in the Unlimiteds. These are not hobby shop planes, costs are anywhere from $3000.00(probably stole it ) to $10,000.00 +

This 3 day race event is just the first of a three event schedule for 2006.
The next race is in August in Ohio
The season ends in October in Arizona

Go to the Official web page for more info:

http://www.usrainfo.org/

Here's what Ill be racing in the GT class of F1
It's name is a Kelly.
These are 42% scale planes flying a 1600' pylon course for 6 laps of raw excitement!!

The most fun and intense 2-minute race you'll ever fly

For anybody that's interested in buying a new Kelly F1D, GR-7 GT & Formulae 1 class racers and the Miss Ashley Unlimited class racer (Mustang variant with Lear jet wings and tail), Find Diego Lopez at the Team Extra tent.

well we made it thru the event, not with out some major $$$$ of carnage in three out of the four classes.
Several planes were totaled, but all in all it was a great time by all.
Dominator gold winner- Dean Cranston
F1 GT gold winner- Robert Vess
F1 GT silver winner - Joe Rafalowski
F1 gold winner - Kenny Mc Spadden
Unlimited gold winner - Fred French

Conrats to all the winners and all the pilots for a great showing at Rantoul

Can you guys give me some direction as to where I can find a giant scale Kelly F1 airframe? Who may sell them new or a used one.. even if it a little abused , I dont mind doing some work to get it rolling. I would be really interested in getting into giant scale racing, we use the 40 size quickie 500 airframe right now..but bigger is better!
Thanks for your time!

Bobby,
I will wait and see how many planes are left after Ohio and then maybe get rid of one of them. I want to keep 2 for sure. I just dont need 3 F1 planes. I want to keep the new GR7 for sure. It all depends on how bad or good I come out of the first 2 races.

Id like 2 GR7's. or maybe a GR and a Kelly. Depends on how heavy the repaired GR turns out.

Im still in this just trying to eliminate excess planes is all.

My name is Marty as well, is there two of us?? I would definately be interested in one of the planes, even if it is a bit heavy for what you guys want, it wont bother me to have a little extra weight at this point, as no one here has anything like those planes yet for me to compare too, I want to get into a giant scale speed plane.

All race series results are on the USRA web site:
http://www.usrainfo.org/2007%20Series%20Standings.htm

I believe it was Dave Smith as you said in the unlimited
Kenny Mac in F1
Mike tallman in F1 GT
Not sure on Domiators

The bipes and T6's didnt have enough entries to validate a class
