100% savage!!! lol, i had the same problem, i wont go into detail but after weighing up the pros and cons, i went for the savage 4.6 ss. However, if i were you, id wait for the savage X 4.6 ss, its going to be sweet. Also if you are a noob, building the truck will help you to understand how it all works and fits together so in the long run it will help when you come to fixing broken parts or hopping it up Thats my opinion anyway.

Doesn't seem like the 4.6 SS is one of his choices dude !!!

Anyways, I own both the Savage 4.6 SS modified with X parts and the Revo 2.5 with OS 18 TM motor. Your BEST BET will be the Revo since it will offer you the best of both the racing world and bashing world.

Here is the MPH info in stock form:

Top Speed - Savage X -- 34+ mph
Top Speed - Savage SS -- 40+ mph
Top Speed - Revo 2.5 -- 40+ mph

Handling on the Savage SUCKS, handling on the Revo is good (excellent if modified for racing). I must also say I have broken way more parts on the Savage than I have on the Revo so far.

But than again, I am sure the next guy/gal who posts will tell you all about how GREAT the Savage is and how much the Revo SUCKS, so again, your best bet is to do your own independent research and than buy the Revo

REVO lol. dont get me wrong. i do have a revo. i dont have a savage, but i am not anti-svage. i am actually looking to buy a svage now as i seem to be the the only person on this forum with only one or two trucks. but out of savage vs revo vs t-maxx, my genuine opinion is revo all the way. if you want speed, handling, acceleration, control on the ground and in the air, get a revo.

as for the "build it yourself" argument, thats all fine apart from your gonna end up tearing down the truck soon enough to clean it. id rather tear it done from a built truck, than build it from scratch. it mean you can tear it down as much as you are comfortable with each time. plus you can take it out of the shiny packaging, add fuel, and GO!!!!

anyway. IMO revo is the best all-round truck out there. if you are strictly bashing though, go for a savage X SS 4.6 cos it looks like they r gonna be a good solid basher

REVO all the way, revo Is the best truck out there in my book, this is my opinion but i think the savage SUCKS, they are a pain to work on and the revo is pritty easy to, had a brand new savage 25 3 days old and i heard it was hard to break so i go over a 2-3 jump and get 4 foot of air, landed on the engine head, shattering the engine mounts, put a hole in the engine block, bent chassis and engine brace was pushed down on one side, I did the same thing wih my revo with 3.3 chassis and O.S. 30 Vg at 15 feet air and landed on the engine head, all what happend was a bent cooling fin, for got to mention tht the savage was ALL alumininum and the revo has rpm a-arms. I think the revo is a racer/basher and the savage is practicly garbage. You decide which truck to get.

First up, again i love the way people think they'll get an unbiased opinion in a manafacturer specific forum

Next, lookin' at the above quoted post, DirtNap4U if your going to openly create lies (yeah, you could have got a lemon, but with that damage HPI would have more than made you smile when you complained and you would have included that in your post, unless your post was designed to put the Savage in a bad light ) please please please at least learn to spell them correctly. Although your spelling does make it more amusing to read .

I've only got countable experience with the savage. Have played about with a Revo but not enough to comment on. Based on that i don't think its fair i say which is better but i can tell you the savage was in my experience a great truck compared to a T-MAXX. If thats anything to go by take the Savage.

I have both trucks, both are very tough trucks. I like my savage for bashing and climbing hills. and the savage you can easily intall most big block engines with out special mounts and header. but the new 3.3 revo is fast and handles the track conditions better. it is hard to decide. I bought my savage first then 6 months later got the revo. hope this helps.

later tim
