Well I weakened last night and picked me up one of these cheapo badius type things on ebay.I'm gonna rip out all the crap 27mhz stuff, and put in one of my spare Align 2500kv brushless motors, and whatever lipo will will fit inside. Those wings look like prime candidates for aelirons, and with some carbon reinforcing,I should have a cheap little rocket. If the wing has too much lift too it,I may even make up a speed 400 pylon racer type wing out of balsa and glass....then I will need a new tail and rudder I spose...Looks like a good customising project though as long as there is enough room in the fuse for the electrics.I allready have a couple of similar type planes, one with aelirons, one without, and they are quite quick with the right setup, although the fuselages are fairly tight for the electrics.Hopefully this one is slightly bigger,it looks like it may be.
What you think lads? good idea?

That thing is going to hoon bleary, will the wings hold up or will you have to reinforce?

sama, all you have to look out for is pitch sensitivity since rather than taking a step up, your taking two. The x twin has no pitch, only slight climb and turns. I once had a two channel plane and when I moved up to a three channel trainer, the pitch and elevator climb took me by surprise. It should be easy to fly, just keep in mind that holding up elevator will result in a stall.

DB,

I think you are referring to the Airhogs aeroace. I have searched high and low for them -both on the west and east coast with no luck. The closest I have come is the X-twin by silverlit. From what I understand airhogs bought the concept from silverlit and are now producing them. If you look around here and elsewhere there are heaps of threads popping up about them, I had to try them out.

The AA sells in the US for around $30. The x-twins are almost identical but sell for $79.95 at toys r us. You get two planes with one trans for that price, so its not too bad. The ones I got are mono planes, but one has a funny canard at the front. I've bashed and crashed mine a few times in the house and it keeps flying with no damage so far.

They do not like any wind -every time I've flown outdoors they get blown around tremendously, mianly going higher and downwind very quickly. If it starts to get away from you and you throttle down you lose all steering. That means it 'floats' further downwind with the breeze.

For what they are they're xclnt fun. No problems with pesky bystanders asking if they can have a go as they're probably not gonna damage it. Now I'm gunna build a f15 jet out of the internals. Bring on the indoor nites!!!!

clive

What!!! 39 spackers????

I musta got done!!! I paid $79 bucks at Toys R'Us at aspley in Brisbane!!! Spewin' . Where did you find it for that price? Were there two planes in the pack??

Just to clarify, when I meant the X twin is almost identical to the AA, I meant in terms of thrust vectoring and electronics, the planes themselves look different.

Three channel gives good control, but 4 channel rocks in terms of precision!!!!
