Hi fellow R\Cerz,I'm getting back into the hobby with this being my first project in 15 yrs. So yes indeed i've been out of the loop so to speak.I'm considering this engine as i would like this bird to swing a 4-blade prop, plus i can get it for under 200.00$,( good deal,?,good choice?)(overkill....)would i need any mods to airframe structure to keep it from flying itself apart?I imagine it would fly like a screamin, raped ape and any info will help,I'm guessing est. flying wt. with this engine to be 15 - 17lbs, flying will be done at sea level.....thanks ya'll

That will certainly be a screamer. My 17.5 lb. 83" Claude flies great on a Saito 180 with 17x8 APC. You might be better off with something a bit tamer if you are rusty.

There was a discussion on the combo your thinking about on here last year. At our warbird fly-in two years ago a flyer brought one and it was a rocket. A search should bring up all the older posts on this.

MO,
You might consider an OS 1.08 2 stroke. This engine puts out over 3 HP. Less fuel consumption also. Good Luck.

I run a Moki 2.10 on mine and am really happy with it. It is side mounted with a Bisson Pitts muffler and an APC 21x10W prop. Super quiet and yet I can do huge loops. We put a radar gun on it and get 108 mph at full throttle flat and level with no swooping down. Half throttle is 74 mph (which is a scale 444 mph, by the way). I do have to carry 8 oz. of lead in the tail where the star is to balance it. It weighs 16 lbs. I didn't have to do any reinforcing of anything - but at the same time I try to fly it realistically, meaning I am not trying to pull the wings off or see how fast I can go. You could put a smaller prop on it and probably get it to come apart if you tried hard enough.

I recently pulled the Moki to put it in my Hanger 9 P-47. I'm going to put an O.S. 1.6 in the Mustang. It should let me take the 8 oz of lead out of the tail since the O.S. is 1 lb lighter. I'm speculating that I will get similar performance since the plane will be a pound and a half lighter. I'll find out what happens later this month.

One other comment. The Moki has a long break-in if it is new. Two-to-three HOURS of running time before it settles down and is reliable. I'm told the OS will break in quickly.

First if you can get a new one for under $200, get it. Good to have in stock.

I have the Dave Patrick (same) version of the Moki 210. It is for my 80"span 109 scale 3 blade. The plane will fly with an OS 108 turning a 2 blade. But again, the idea is scale looking and number of blades

prop wash, I'm suprised at your numbers. I have the moki 210 in my world models giant mustang. I use the stock tank which is 20oz. (I believe + or -) but no where close to 32 oz and I fly for 10 minutes and still have fuel left in the tank. I'm turning an 18x12 apc prop a tad under 8k RPM on the ground. Getting over 100mph in the air. using slimline inverted pitts muffler

mopartybob, you could probally turn a 4 blade prop, but even with the moki its not going to be anywhere close to scale size.

Thanx kidd,It's a bear working with all the pro's and cons of trying to find the right combo to swing this size 4 blader-without reworking the cowl extensively to say fit a st4500in there,(ha) I guess until some wingnut gets back to me with a combo that requires little mods or rework,i'll stick with the MOKI and a 2 blade and fullfill my need for speed....thanks again

You could try a reduction drive on a gas motor. I have seen a few around but never paid much attention as I am in glow. RCV and Erickson make same motors that can turn large props. I don't know about 4 blades though.

Mike;;; the 32 oz tank came with the TFGS P51 and that is just about what I get[12min] at full throttle. Now I use a 20-8 for breakin as recomended and this season[after 2yrs] I'll be using a 20-10.Like I said before ,big loops and I stay with the G62s with no problems.I'll be leanning her out this season.I did not want to take any chances on leanning her in too soon.I really like this engine thats why I got a Moki 180 to put in my H9P47 because of this great engine.Tom

Thanks Tom, I knew we had "spoken" before. Yeah I love this Moki its never given me any problems, if I ever get a P-38 big enough I wouldn't think twice about putting a pair of Moki's in it. Bunnies still flying great, looks like you still got the TF mustang flying and looking good. (if I had to do it over I would have gone that route) .
