Hi, Ive been in Rc for around 3 years, and ive raced on-road nitro, but now i getting into 1/8th buggy racing, and I have a few question that im sure the racers can answere:

1. How long is a regualr race?
2.If there are pitstops during a race (im preatty sure there are). Generally how many are there?
3. What is a preatty good time for the car to be in and out of the pits?
4. Is there anything a pitman might have to do other then just re-fuel the buggy?

Also, Do you have any tips for getting in and out of the pits as quickly as possible?

Thanks

Most qualifer heats are 5 minutes, with the best 2 out of 3 heats to place you into a main. C through F (or higher) mains are usually around 7 mins and will require 1 pit. B mains can be 10 to 15 minutes, with one or two pits. A mains are usually 20-45 minutes. Often there won't be a minimum # of pits if there is a restriction on fuel tank size. All of this is variable because different tracks have different rules. But that should give you the general idea.

A good pit stop is around 3 - 4 seconds. And a well trained pit guy is invaluable - he/she may be able to fix a minor problem, re-start the truck if necessary etc.

My advice for quick pits: Know where you are at in your skill level. If you can get around the track faster than everyone, pit first. If you are last, pit last because you probably are burning fuel at a slower rate than everyone else, so you should be able to go longer. I always have a stopwatch with me and time how long it takes me to run out of fuel while doing warm ups before the first qualifier.

Hope that helps.

1. Everywhere from 10 to 60 mins
2. Pit every 5 to 7 mins depending on your run time / tank.
3. 5 secs or less for refueling.
4. Restart car, fix fuel lines, adjust needles.

I have the dynamite fuel gun. It will fill the tank in about 2 seconds but the problem is you never know exactly when the tanks full. The gun will stop automatically when fuel reachs the nozzle but you can't see in the tank after it gets covered with dirt so you don't know if your tank is actually full.

I think the best way to do it is find a fuel bottle with a nice big nozzle and squeeze the hell out of it. Just don't get that fuel on the brakes.

You can hold the gun a tiny bit out of the tank. My dad has no problem seeing it, all my bodies are clear so the instant it is full he just pulls the gun away and I quickly drive off. If you have a pit guy that is good with the fuel gun you can almost do it in one constant motion. Make sure you have a nice big handle to grab for the tank cap.

So you all reccomend it? super dave ive driven in straight up mud, but ive never had my tank so dirty i couldnt see if the fuel was full. Also does the fuel gun need to be coming straight doen onto thre tank for the anti spill function (the thing that lets the fuel gun know that the tank is full) only work if the gun is coming straight down into the tank or will it also work ifyour filling at an angle?

If you spill the fuel onto the tank before or while racing, it can make dirt stick to the tank, sometimes really thick, and it does make it really hard to see how much fuel it has.
