I'm new to RC boating and I was looking at buying the ts2 with the OS .21 outboard. But i have a few questions.

1. Are you using high torque servos on both the drive and throttle?
2. What type of receiver pack battery are you using for the servo's, as the Futaba 3305 servo tech notes are saying it is approved for ni-cad only?
3. If I use the 30% nitro fuel, should I used the A5 glow plug?

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

1. A high torque servo is only needed on the rudder.
2. You can use a 4 cell alkaline pack provided with most radio systems.
3. With 30% fuel, you can use the O.S.#8 plug that comes with the engine.

You can bend the tubing that comes with a Sullivan fuel tank so one tube extends to the bottom of the tank and the other into the vent bubble.

I'm using the stock tank, the newer one with the rounded sides, and I used the hard tubing rather than a klunk. The pickup is bent so it curves to the rear left bottom corner of the tank.

Do you plan to run it for fun or racing? Are you running a stock or piped engine? I race mine and I've found that with the stock tank my boat typically comes back with 1/3-1/2 tank still. It's got a stock OS engine. I wouldn't go with a larger tank, it's going to be too much weight back there.

Hey Piper chuck,

Yes I have a piped engine, I too have an OS. After I posted that, I relized that I dont need a 10oz tank. Ill use the stock tank with the rounded sides as well. I never thought about bending the pickup tube instead of using a klunk. I find that my boat starts stalling even when I have a sufficient amount of gas left, its just that it is to the rear of the tank and the klunk isnt picking it up. What prop are you running on your TS2. I recently started running a 1440 and that is the prop Ive had the best results with so far.

I ran a Prather 215 for quite a while. I've also tried an M440. I recently switched to a modified 1440 and it seems a bit better.

No and yes. The Rossi will also bolt on a K&B 3.5 lower unit.

Hey guys,

for those of you who have removed the head shim, do you find a substantial increase in speed and second, by running it without the shim, how much will it shorten the life of the engine.

Thanks again, sorry for all the questions, I am trying to squeeze every last MPH out of this OS.

There's probably 2 - 3 mph in an O.S. 21 OB by removing the head shim. There's more factors to engine life than just less head clearance. If you want speed, you will give up some engine life.

Thanks Jerry,

Yes, Ive considered that, losing some life of the engine by removing the shim. I think Im going to yank it and give it a shot.

1. If you haven't installed the front recover pads - do so.

2. Try lowering the prop depth to help prevent the boat from hooking.

Hi Gang,
Some very nice TS2's on display here!
My 'full scale' season is over for the year, and I picked up a hull this week and am looking forward to putting on the water.
I dug up an old K&B and am in the process of rebuilding it (to stock specs), but I know I'm going to want a 'beast engine' to bolt to the back of it before long.
What is the hot engine setup for this boat? I've found a few bits and pieces online, but up to date data/info seems a little hard to find outside of this forum. Any suggestions?
Thanks, L

Wave Waker,
We ran some APBA stock hydro races this year. Since some of my competitors also have RC boats, We decided to run a 3.5cc O/B race at our season opener next spring.
Therefore, The need for some serious horsepower on the TS2 project!
That's a nice looking setup on your boat! Did You pull the parts together from scratch, or find them at the races? local hobby shop? Online?
Thanks, L

Hey L whats up Jim said you did pretty good this season. I almost bought one of the TS2 but moneys tight. I decided to start a build with the free plan floating around on the forum. Going to put my HPI.12 in it. What ever happened to those pics you were going to send me. Dave

PS the carbon fiber bottom end you can find at fullers fast electrics.

Hey Dave,
I was happy with the season. Only a few bad heats in 14 races, I didn't tear anything up!
I forgot what pics I was supposed to be sending! Give me a call.
Still trying to decide on K&B, MAC, Rossi ... for the TS2

I Dont think you can go wrong with the MAC or the Rossi if the Rossi is anything like my Serpent Vector its a beast. Your going to pay the price for either engine but that dont seem to be an issue for you Ill have to find your number Im bad at keeping them I should have put it in my phone long ago. Dave
PS have you took a look at my new project. Its up at the top the page HPI/ Nova Rossi.12

L, nice full scale thanks for sharing the pics,,a club member here in cincy run that kind of hydro too...got my stuffs from online, with my OS engine setup did machine shop for the adaptor between the engine and lower unit, but my other setup the rossi and carbon fiber lower unit is direct bolt on.

I heard the MAC manufacturer are making some kind of changes so i would better wait and see..forgot the mention the Nova Rossi engine with conversion also works great but kinda hard to find spare parts...

Anybody has any opinion about the Hyperformance lower units?
I have a Rossi engine, but I don't want to cut my K&B lower unit.

I thinking to upgrade my TS2, with a Rossi engine.

I still understand why need to put the pads recovery, Could you explain me, too?

The front recovery pads help prevent the hull from hooking in corners. They do this by limiting how deep the sponons settle in a corner.

It would be less expensive to order a K&B lower unit and cut it than to use the Hyperperformance lower unit.

has anyone used the Fullers Carbon lower, with a MAC 21 O.B. motor? I think i read somewhere the Fullers Carbon lower is setup for K&B power and i think hte MAC 21 O.B. is also setup for a K&B Lower?

Will this work without a ton of extra work?
