heres my set up i had a quick run today (very windy) and the new head and carby runs well. it uses twice as much fuel as the k&b black carby but i was quite surprised.

Sweet didnt know if you had a chance to run it yet. Will have to get out to pontiac lake before it gets too warm and the beach goer's start showing up. Its a good place to run I can bring my old waders incase we have to chase a boat. Only problem I have is my big marine battery I start my big boat with died over the winter. I think I just have to pull the boat out and charge battery and radio.

I Know its too cold to run them now. Im talkin before it gets too warm and they open the beach up then we would have to run them by wren's house. Hey what does your boat weigh ready to run.Just curious. Hey is Wren doing some trash talkin he told me you said you were going to stomp my boat. It should its got more motor and its a tunnel. Not that it matters I just want to go have some fun with them. I wish I could afford a TS2. How are you using your drill battery to start it. Did you make something up to hook up the starter to it? I can get my little Wild Thing to start off the hobby bat. but I was hoping to be able to run my big boat also . I need to get another hobby bat and run 24 volt to see if that will turn it over.

Hey all I just wanted to share my lasted addition to my fleet. I came across a TS2 for sale comeplete and should get it sometime next week. K&B 3.5 with tuned pipe and a gold carb. from the pictures it appears to have had a set-back plate added but I have not seen the bottom to see if it has any stumble pads. any condensed list of tweeks would be helpful. I ran some tunnels in the late 70s early 80s so I am excited about tuning in a tunnel boat again. seems like they have come a long way over the years. I have attatched some photos.

Need a little advice here. I finally got to test my TS2 this weekend. Got it started and the first thing I did was walk to the waters edge and as gracefully as I could I tossed it in upside down, the prop never got wet. I just stood there….Then it started snowing….Once we retrieved it to my surprise the radio box was dry no damage here.
Ok, the problem I noticed was the boat, when upright, list to the right not much but it does have a list. I used two d cell batteries and checked the balance left to right. The boat would balance if you turned the engine a little to the left. However, when on center the boat listed to the right. The engine is centered on the transom and the boat is balanced at about the 93/4” mark. I used steel fishing weights mixed with epoxy poured into the nose of the cowling. I never really ran the boat other than just past planning speeds as I’m still trying to break it in: however, it ran very well and when on plan it ran straight and true. I have a bit of negative trim and the prop shaft sits just above center line on the set up board. All in all everyone was quite impressed with it by the days end. My question is will this boat list a little in the direction of the tuned pipe or is something off? Thanks Chad.

Wren doesn't have a boat, So He has to talk!
The Dewalt thing is nothin fancy, The Hobbico clips just happen to fit.
If we get to run, My Nieghbor is bringing a Vegas hydro along.

Prop torque can cause the running condition you have described. Also, once the engine gets more time on it and you can lean it down, it's possible the "right lean" may go away. What prop are you running?

Jerry when the boat runs it goes exactly where you point it and shows no adverse effects of the list. I have a bit of negative trim on it while breaking it in so it does ride wet and even plowed the nose a bit turning in both directions. However, if you saw it run or were to drive it you would never know the list was there. It’s only noticeable when the boat is dead in the water. The prop is a thinned, sharpened, and balanced x440 two blade. I’m working on a three as we speak. No modifications on the blade shape as of yet. Chad.

Hey L thats a nice trick with that battery. All the ones I have are flat on the bottom and wouldn't hold a clip. That will be cool have a vegas to run with also. I should rig up 4 milk jugs on some weights so we can make a little track. Ya Wren likes the up and down of a heli or the go slow mode of a sailboat. You would think he would own at least one decent boat living on the lake.

i just got my TS2 yesterday!!! I can't start putting it together right now because I have University exams for the rest of the month, but I have a few questions. What is the easiest way to put the stickers on the boat? Do you use a spray bottle with soapy water so you can move them around into the perfect position? Any other tips I should know about before I begin to put it together?

Hey Kelly, that TS2 is well on it's way to you, I mean... your SON, SAM! What's this you're already taking on challenges from toyotatruckin? Does Sam know about this? And here I thought you were getting this newly restored TS2 for Sam to gain some valuable driving experience. Is Sam going to be at the helm at that race against toyotatruckin or is he just going to be an observer?

Thanks just got the boat and yes it is for Sam. The tunnel boat will teach Sam how to drive. looking at the boat I am just going to fire it up and see what happens. I am worried that the steering servo is going to be weak but I won;t know for sure untill I try. the set back and mount system I like but it is adjusted as low as it can go and still a fair amount above the bottom of the sponsons. am sure it will need stumble blocks and I may tweek the bottom a bit. I started to get busy and change a bunch of stuff but stopped and decided to just run it and see what happens. Sam will be stoked. It was heavily suggested that I not try and have him race the tunnel this weekend for the first driving one as well. It will be a great one for him to learn on. not ready to race anyone yet. Toyota's Maus runs well just needs some super industrial locktite for the carb. You going to OKC Toyota? got a motor in the Miss Veg-all the 3.5 seaducer is hot and the .67 roadrunner is ballistic. also going to run the 40 boat. I am ready for some racing....paint swapin....turn fin cuttin....propwalk slashing racing.

Hi guys, just took my ts2 down to the local pond to fine tune it. I have the O.S. .21 xm, and I am fairly sure I broke the engine in properly ( slobbering rich, good smoke trail, fuel flying out of the carb, etc.). I broke the boat in out of the water ( used a water pump to cool it, and kept it from revving all the way), for about 3 tanks. So I had the high speed needle at two and a half turns out, and the low speed at factory setting. The boat would hardly idle without dying ( seemed too rich at idle). So I leaned it out a touch. I tuned the engine by ear to scream out of the water, but when I put it in the water it seems like the boat is not getting up to speed. No cavitation here, im talking serious bogging down. Ive tried leaning both needles a touch, one at a time, etc, and no results. Im at wits end here. Ive had no problem tuning nitro engines before, so im a bit baffled. Motor has literally no power in the water, but revs and idles nicely out of the water. If you guys could give me some good starting points for the two needles, this might help. They are a bit vague on the low speed setting in the manual. Ive ruled out fuel delivery issues by rerouting the fuel lines cleanly. Ever since I bought this motor ( before it was even fired), it has had a real tight spot in the stroke, and it almost feels like something binds. Is this normal for the O.S. .21? HELP GUYS< I GOT THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!!!

check the motor first by turning the flywheel back n forth, it should turn freely until it hit the top dead then kinda be tight, but to make sure after the break-in open the engine and check the internals then put it together just make sure everything is workin'....then if no power while in the water check the engine height and prop angle, negative prop angle and low engine setting putting to much prop load that causes the motor unable to rev up, also putting big prop causes not to rev up.....hope it helps....take care of that os coz it's a great motor.

Sounds to me like your engine is too lean. Out of the water there isnt any load on the engine, so it runs with less fuel. Once its in the water it needs more fuel to run properly and rev out. So set your needles so that it blubbers a bit when out of the water then tune it from there on the water. Another thing that could cause this is an air leak, check your carby is tight, exhaust has no leaks/ loose etc.

I have a hunch the bogging down problem is directly related to the low speed needle. Where should the low speed needle be? ( turns out, etc??) They show a sketchy diagram in the manual, I didnt really get it. I know that if the low speed is set correctly, the engine should run with the high speed at 2 and a half out regardless. ( and it should run much better than it is now, even rich ). I'll check for vacuum leaks tonight, and hopefully someone will get me a quick response on the low speed setting. Thanks guys,
