OK Hawk Pro owners. I need your brutal honesty on the quality and performance. I have flown Kyosho, X-Cell 30 class birds for years and need a change of pace with another manufacture. Bored, time to build a new one and experience a different design.

For the price I just have reservations on the quality. I realize it's not an X-cell comparable kit but neither is the price. All manufactures have their problems, I would just like some opinions on Century's products.

Bottom line I guess my question is; for hovering, forward flight and some minor 3d does it stack up? Have you had any structural failures?

I plan to install an OS 37, Futaba 7CHP and 401 gyro. I do have a CNC mill and lath to make my own "upgrades" as needed and will make the parts during my build if I know what components have been failing in the field. I did read from another post that the plastic clutch hubs melt???? Are they still plastic out of the box??? If so, sounds like the first part I will print and turn in aluminum.

Any information would be appreciated before I buy.

Happy Hover to all

Having a lot of past experience with X-Cell machines and with the Hawk Pro - I think once you have built and flown it you will wonder how they can offer it for such a price.

You can go to these forums and find a lot of fella's flying them:

Syclic, Thank you for the information. I too have flown X-Cell birds for years but my local shop went out of business or he moved. I did order all the goodies and awaiting the brown truck. I did talk to Century yesterday and found the staff to be helpfull and informative. I read alot of Bashing of Century with respect to customer support but they seem to be on top of the issues.

I will share that the OS 37 is the way to go. I never had a carb dial in so close to perfection as this one. The 32 seemed to really never find the Happy spot. Either to lean or to fat.

I will be offering for sale my X-Cell 30 bird here on the forum. Complete turn key bird except for fuel and the normal start stuff. It's gorgeous, never experienced the ground and flies like a breeze. Just time to experience another bird manufacture and play with something new.

Thanks again for the links,

George

I am self taught and have never crashed. I have six months experience. I do mild aerobatics and autorotations. The only parts that have broken or worn out have been the fins on the cooling fan/clutch assembly, and the landing gear have cracked due to a couple of hard set downs in the beginning. I also run the os .37 engine. It has never stalled, quit, or sputtered during flight and idles rock solid. There is also a kit to modify the pro 30 to hold a .50 size engine. Use a quality gyro and radio with digital servos.
