johnchu_hk, the charger has nothing to do with the car amplifier. Get it?
The charger and ballancer is from Thunder Power. You can buy it here: http://www.b-p-p.com/products.php?cat=8

Enuff said. Now lets go fly.

ScratchBuild, I suspected johnchu_hk was pulling my leg. But JUST in case he wasn't... Thought I'd give a good response. Don't want the dude to go all around Hong Kong looking for car amplifier-charger.
johnchu_hk - really! ITS NOT!

Oh, and the car amplifier is from Soundstream: http://www.soundstream.com/.
What would we do without the internet?

Bear,

Man, You are a genius.. It took me almost a whole day to read through your complete thread.. but the creativity that you have showed in your thread is just un-believable.. I am a new owner to Walkera 36, wanted to try walkeras after rex and 400...your thread is simply impressive.. You should be working for NASA or some high end R&D for creativity and system design.. or something..

Not sure if i can do all those mods on my 36 but got some good understanding of things that needs attention..

thanks dude.. appreciate all your postings..

squadri.

squadri1126, thanks for the support dude. Tinkering is something I really like to do .
Sorry it took a whole day to read the thread. Is it really that long? Some of the mods didn't work out - maybe I should just delete those posts?
And seriously, anyone can do these mods. My main tools are a drill (made in china) (with small bits), sand paper and file of multiple size (big & small), vice (big and baby), nail clipper, hack saw, soldering iron, CA, Epoxy glue, parts bought over the net and lots and lots of patience and time.

I'll post some more mods I've done in the pass week (hovering hands free 2 seconds!) - as soon as I can find my camera cable

I'm grounded at the moment as my Quark 33A ESC finally went up in smoke - a cut off at 20 feet followed by a verticle fall with very little autorotation isn't nice. .
Luckily the cabon fibre reinforcements held true and the only damage was one break on the plastic frame.
Now waiting for the Align 35A ESC.
Oh well..... shxx happens.

Have you tried the ParkBEc or any other separate BEC? After I put one on, the heat problems went away.

I'm using a UBEC from Hobbywing - and yes this really helps reduce the overheating problem of the Quark 33A. But now its a different situation = the Quark gets really really hot after only 30 seconds of flight followed by gradual loss of power (i.e. crash). I've changed the motor and still the same results - so it can't be that. So I've given up on the Quark (quite a few of us has) - and gone back to the Align 35A.

hi..

no i have not tried any other BEC or ESC except the one that came with 36. It is walkera 35a ESC.. with walkera 180 motor.. the thin long one.. the motor and esc both gets hot.. but i dont fly more than 5 mins each time with a 10mins break.. and the battery dies after about 9mins of flight.. lately the heli is getting this weired vibration.. on the tail.. the body looks stable but the tail kind a shakes.. i still use walkera gyro.. but have replace all the other electronics to futaba 146 and hitec 55's. Gyro holds well but have to reset after every 5 mins flight by turning the power on and off.. cause it doesnt come back to its original position..

anyways.. looking at the main shaft.. couldnt find anything wrong.. myabe i have to take it out.. but i am afraid to take it out.. cause lot of people had a hard time taking the main shaft out.. yes, once the heli is about 10 feet high.. the vibes disappear, last night it took the sucker to as high as 30ft.. but when brought it down it started preety badly.. played with the curves.. and high rpm helps to some extent..

I had one crash when i first purchased the heli.. that ended up in a broken rotors and bent tail..because of crappy electronics.. before i replaced it.. maybe i just need to open it all up and check it up one by one.. and see what is bent..

About your post.. yes it took me whole day but that is between work.. and yes some of the mods that you later one advised not to implement could very well be deleted...

thanks for listening..

squadri..

squadri,
When I first got my heli, I was too very apprehensive about taking it apart. But really dude, there is no other way to learn the mechanics of the machine other than taking it apart. Like removing the main shaft - it gets really easy once you know what's involved.
Unfortunately for model heli fliers (thats you and me), you have to be the mechanic, the pilot and the maintenance guy all in one. No other way about it.

Do invest in a good simulator. Reflex XTR or minimally FMS. You need to develop those flight reflexes.

Finally and unfortunately, Crashing is normal and IS part of learning.

borneobear,

Yes, I will try to open this weekend...because I am expecting a set of main shaft today.. one of the screws that holds the tail boom on the main body is worn on..meaning the screwdriver can't get a good grip on the head to unscrew it and the whole is so small that can't put any plier or anything else to undo it.. so will try to use other types of screw driver to undo the screw.. those screws are too small and cheap.. But yes.. I would have to open the sucker in order to learn the mechanics of 36. I konw REX and MX400xs very well have build both of them.. but 36 is kind a little different for me..

it flies very well again i took it up to 100 ft.. high last night from my deck.. it only ended in vibration twice.. while decending and in the last couple of mins of the battery life.... i know there has to be something wrong in the main shaft.. otherwise. it is as good as a MX400xs except the swashplate type.

thanks for the advice,
squadri

squadri, 100 foot up?? Thats kinda high dude.
The Walkera main shaft is the best I've seen yet - there are tons of other main shafts that will fit (shogun, zoom, helidirect hardened shaft, etc.) but they all bend easily. Those made by walkera remain the hardest of them all. Go figure.

Anyway, I've made some pretty good mods lately - but up loading it here is gonna take some time as work is knocking hard on my door.

A T-Rex SE droped by my house the other day - owned by a kind gentleman who runs this website:
http://private-aircraft.biz/shop/index.php?cPath=23&osCsid=8fb62ebef5ef741d74b35ac9a6e77535

Now for the comparison :

Turned my hybrid heli has a sligtly longer tail boom then thE standard T-Rex:

Didn't get to compare stability in-flight though - my heli was still on high-modding-gear then:
