However, the inner ball support for the swash plate has to be filed, so that the links don't hit the outer ball support:

I always wanted to try out Align's anti-rotation bracket, as i'd thought it would help me take off one of control links of the elevator arm:

By removing this 'extra' control link, I could not only reduce weight, but also increase my elevator degrees of movement.

Well I bought the unit for pinnaclemodel.com and its sweet! . Basically just screwed it (arrow) right onto the frame. But because there was no 'platform' for it to stand, I've had to glue it on as well (arrow). This is to prevent the bracket from moving around and messing up my elevator control slider:

With this mod, I found that my elevator slider does not need the front link anymore. Therefore removing the weight of two bearings, plus the link to boot:

Additionally, since there is no front structure to limit my elevator arm movement, I found the swash degree of movement to increased significantly.

I also removed the front ball link support, to reduce weight and prevent the swash links from hitting anything due to the extra freedom of movement (degrees):

This is how I changed the elevator arms from the standard small ball link to the Align larger sized link:

The finished product:

Some additional CNC material I got off the net were these cool tail boom clamps from Ebay's XMSeller:

Originally designed to fit into the Shogun V2 Carbon frame, these had to be shorted by about 1 mm on each side (clamp on the left, above).

Installation was a little tricky, as the location for these clamps must be perfect in order that the tail boom remains in its original position. This is after final installation:

Notice that the clamps are slightly crooked, due to me re-arranging its location as I found the tail boom was pushed up wards - due to placing the CNC clamp too low.

The tail boom can now be clamped or released by just tightening or loosening these two bolts (arrow):

Additionally, it is here that I appreciate the carbon fibre reinforcements to the plastic frame. Putting the tail boom weight on those two allen screw points are huge stresses for plastic to take.

One last upgrade before I call it a day:
I got these pitch arm lever also from XMSeller:

This was made for the Shogun V2. However, the above are some issues that need to be addressed when using this unit:
1. File the bearing housing, as it will hit the sides of its mount (arrow):

2. CA the two bolts that hold the bearing housing onto the support frame. Loctite doesn't do. It will get loose from the rotating vibration.

3. Loctite the screws that hold the support to the heli frame.

4. An extension to the servo arm is needed to prevent this ball link from hitting the main gear bearing case.

Your perserverance and attention to detail is staggering. I doubt anyone else in the world has put as much time and effort into a Walkera helicopter as you have. Congratulations on your "Hobby" achievements.

Most of us give up and throw them in the bin then move on to a machine that doesnt require the microscopic level of refabrication that you have embarked upon before being capable of flying well. Whilst I admire the enthusiasm, I suspect you must have a lot more time on your hands than your average builder does

You take nice up-close detail photos though..

Spockie-Tech, you are right on every account. I do have too much time on my hands .
The 36 has a good frame. Thats about all that Walkera got right with this model. But by having this solid base to work on, its really not that difficult to put in the add-ons.

This is fun!

The weight of the CNC pitch slider is only:

Much less than my upgraded plastic version that had 2 bearings.

And this is whats left of my elevator arms:

The bearing housing which is now not being used will be cut-off on my next re-build, to save me a few more grams.
