Here's another - I don't recall if any of you said you did cars or not, but on the HL tanks, does the included battery have a Tamiya connector (sort of generic and has been for a long time)? If not, what kind of connector is it so I can bring it down and perhaps convert some car batteries. Also, are there any weird "board can't handle voltage" deals with the HLs or can they handle any "car" type battery? In other words can any 7.2, 8.4, or 9.6 "hobby" battery work with the electronics without issue?

I have several 3000 mah nimh batteries for cars and boats. Anyone know how many mahs and how long is running time on the stock battery? I was a little concerned reading some of the stories - perhaps the thing is made for just the battery voltage/output it comes with. A hot sport pack 3000 may be too much for the electronics! Thanks

The supplied battery is a 7.2 volt, 2000mAh, six-cell stick pack with the standard Tamiya connector (just like an RC car). Any battery pack that does not exceed 7.2 volts is fine and the higher the mAh the better, IMO. For example, I use Integy 3600mAh batteries in my Tamiya tanks and I plan to buy a set of 4200mAh batteries when I get some extra cash.

I get run-times of 45 minutes to an hour, and I drive pretty much nonstop when we battle.

I run a 3300 mah (7.2v) and last for about an hour of hard running in a S/S HL Tiger 1.
The mah is not a concern as it just means the battery will last longer(voltage is the same-7.2v)

My economy model 4 banger KT runs for about an hour on a 3000.

Yes I know that storage is irrelevant - I was more concerned with voltage. I have some 8.4 packs and one 9.6 pack. Thanks for all the good answers.

I personally would NOT run those higher voltage batteries thru a HL( being the high quality that they are,I would be afraid of releasing the magic blue smoke)

Funny, the OEM yellow 7.2 V pack that came with my Pershing is a mere 1700mAh. I thought they all were the same. Your mileage may vary.

You guys are right. Voltage is the key. The amp-hour rating is simply the storage capacity to give you longer running times.

Unless you're sure the electronics, especially the speed controller, are designed to handle voltages higher than 7.2, then you're risking frying like it was hit by a HEAT round!

If this happens, please post pics....

Well thats the thing isn't it really. I know what various speed controllers can handle and the motors they can turn but since this is all integrated to the board apparently, who knows? What do the boards run by the way - still wish I had reached you Nav before you sold those others - oh well.
