Status: offline 		Is it possible to make a Y splitt on the battery cable and charge the 7.2V battery while it is connected to the rest of the R/C equipment.
Or will that damage the electronics?

I thing that one no so smart thing about the Pershing is that you have to take the turret off to charge the battery.

Status: offline 		In answer to your question, no do not charge the battery while connected to the electronics as by a Y-connector.

Voltages (and currents) for charging are higher than the battery delivers for RC tanks and may damage the electronics.

Status: offline 		A charging switch that isolates the DMD/MF would be needed. I recommend a double pole double throw switch (DPDT) like in the diagram below I made for my tanks.
