I am thinking of buying two Century 750s shortly and just wondering if any of you guys know how long the batteries last and what the range is? Also, where is the best place to buy the batteries and battery chargers?

Hi Martyn,

The batteries will last at least as long as it takes for the boat to sink...

I'm not kidding, this boat is notoriously not watertight/waterproof, just read the other postings on this thread!

If all is normal, you can sail for 3-4 hours straight on 2000mAh (rechargeable) batteries.
I'm not familiar with the radio that comes with the Century 750, but modern radio's have a good range, provided the antenna wire is as high up as possible.
For shorter range, up to 50 - 80 m, taping the antenna wire under the deck, so it sites above the waterline, will also work.

Personally, I'd think again before buying this boat, it is not very good out of the box, you have to tinker with it.

Regards, Jan.

guys this boat is a lot of fun its no professional craft but with some work its a great sailing yacht
lets face it you buy a thing like this to work on and repair and improve thats what a hobby is.
Its cheap ,Its fast and the radio reciever ****s me to bits i need to buy a new one ,but i have had some great fun with this boat.
its a entry level yacht and i love it.
as far as batteries ,go to Bunnings and buy 25 odd batteries for like $10.00 and your set
as far as range goes i have not had it go out of range yet and i recon its been a good 250 to 300 metres away
i race myself in my real size yacht with my century on open water and the bloody thing always wins

hey guys im a newbie on here and just looking at getting my first rc yatch..
my dream boat is a replica volvo boat, which i have now seen is avalible through hobby engine called a killer whale.. my aim is to make or buy a replica of abn amro.. i would like it to sail not to badly, with a few mods, or am i just asking way to much from a off the self model... or should i find some plans and start building.. i would prefer something at least half built, ie hull, as my big boats, and work dont leave much time to build from the ground up..
paul.
