noticed some play between the right and left uprights and pivit balls, I screwed the adjusting nut behind the pivit ball cups as much as possible and still there is alittle play in there. is this normal?

With all pivot ball suspensions there very small amount of "play" between the ball and socket, so it doesnt bind.... shouldnt even be noticable once assembled.
It does take quite a bit of leverage to get the Mugen pivot ball caps tightened completely... maybe try a bigger wrench with more leverage...
...remember it should have just enough play to allow the suspension/steering not to bind.

My caster K8T is the same way which is just like a mugen and they are pretty hard to turn but you can get it to where you can hardly notice any play and the suspension is still free.

yeah im gonna need a longer allen key then and put a small pipe on the end of it or something lol cause I tightened it as far as I could with conventional means. and there is still noticeable amounts of play on both sides

The nut you are scewing in.... is it flush with the upright, stick out or screwed inside the upright or not? MY bottom nut is about a thread out and my top nut is about flush with the upright.

That top one is screwed in alot! And you still have play? I do not know what to tell you. I will take a pic of mine for you but maybe someone else will chime in here to help out. The mugen does not have different size balls do they. My caster ones are all the same.

Um, what does that have to do with this thread??... thats not even a Mugen steering block("upright')...

It is not but EVERYTHING except for the mugen shock towers will bolt up to my truck and my uprights and balls are interchangeble with the mugens. So even if the outside LOOK of the upright is not the same, the internals are. Just trying to help.

Those pillow ball caps can be a pain in the ---. Make sure those go in nice and straight. If it gets cross threaded it will make it almost impossable to tighten. I wish I had mine still so I could help out more. I do remember those being a pain though.

Sorry for not having the $$$ in my caster you got in your mugen and running exactly the same, oh I forgot my caster turns better than mugen.

Wow didnt mean to make you angry I was just wondering what a picture of a differnt brand/design of steering block had to do with how far you should thread in a differnt brand/design??? Thats all .... I could post a picture of how far my pivot ball caps are threaded in on my race Revo so there is zero play.... but how would that help someone with a Mugen, Caster, OCM, ect???
Sorry, i didnt mean to make you mad...just point out that all designs will be different and the pivot ball caps will all need to be adjusted differently...thats all bro
Btw, I think the Castor is a GREAT truggy man

Sorry it just came across as being sarcastic like I should just butt out. My apologies. I just thought since they were very similar it might help out. It's in the past
