Im going full tilt into Truggy Class with the MBX5T Prospec I've been running 1/10 gas truck for a while an ready to make a step up. I ordered the kit from my LHS so it should be here friday!!!!! anyone know anything about the LRP .28? I know its not Nova Rossi, or OS But for the price it looks pretty impressive..... Ill probobly wind up going with the O.S. 21 V-Spec but The LRP Looks pretty tempting.

I have the LRP Z.28 Spec 3 that I want to put in the MBX5T standard kit. Right now it doesn't fit because of the pull start back plate. Does anyone know of a bump start back plate for the LRP?

ROAR truck Nats results:

Truggy
1 Scott Hughes- Mugen/OS
2 Taylor James - Hong Nor/OS
3 Cody King - Kyosho/Orion

(I believe Mugen had at least 3 trucks in the final...not bad for the first major race!)

The way the truck is geared, the .28 will be over kill IMO. I have the Ninja on mine and it compliments the truck perfectly........

A little experimentation never hurt. Especially since I have the engine to try. It just might end up with a new Ninja engine this winter.

The truck nationals sounded awesome. I cant wait to see photos from there and I wish I could have gone.

Panther, what set up are you running. I like something easier to drive than with lots of turning.

I am currently running Stephen Bess' setup on the truck and love it. I will ask his permission to see if I can post it.

Until then, here is Scott Hughes from the ROAR Nats:

hi there.
i hopr you can help me
at first, sorry fo my english, i am from austria and i do a liitle bit more other things than learn other languages, :-)

i have a mugen mbx5 buggy with a ninja MR21 B01 engine. buggy is cool but now i want a truggy. the nem mugen truggen is to expensive for me, so my idea was the mugen msr conversion kit from buggy to truggy. a person here in austria make a a special price to me for that kit.

so what do you think about the conversion kit and is the engine good for a truggy?

i hope for answeres and sorr that i post this in that forum

Hey all,

Just wondering if any of you run the STS D21B with Dadders mod in you 5T. How do you like it and how good does it hold a tune?

Thank You

I've run an OS V-Spec for 2 1/2 years and the best pipe IMO is the Ofna JP-1. I have an 2050 and the power is smooth but the bottom end isn't as good as with the JP-1. For the truggy run that combo if you are going to run the V-Spec. I have the EBmod version too and it does make more power than a unmodified V-Spec but it's not huge. The regular V-Spec is not enough power for a truggy if your going against 21-5 and C5/6's. Even the EBmod can't keep up.

What makes huge power is a Maxpower M8T. It is amazing! It will wheely perpendicular to the ground! I use X-RAy 1.71g clutch shoes with 1.0 springs and a 14T CB. I'm doing some fact finding for a 5T Prospec build for next season. Will compare a Maxpower M8 vs C6 vs JP5Bn vs Ninja Mr21. But I can predict the Maxpower will be the winner. With a 14T CB in an Ofna CRT it out dragged a 13T Mbx5 with a C5 at rolling start and at the end of the 140' straightaway. The C5 was ~230F and the M8 was ~220F. To be honest I didn't tune the C5 so it may have been off? The M8 is a tuning nightmare!

Several "Dadders" mods I've seen didn't hold tunes very well and weren't as reliable as the stock versions. Having seen some of this company's work, it looks like rotary tool modding to me with no real consistency or repeatability. EB Mods uses machine fixtures. I'd suggest sealing the carb well with Air Seal and keeping an eye on the tune. Hopefully yours is one of the better ones! They're a cheaper Taiwan engine so don't expect it to last as long as an Italian engine like Novarossi.

Stay away from the sts .28 dadder engine. I bought one to run in the 4th round of the midwest pro series (in Joliet) and it didnt perform a well as the ninja .21 engine. I traded it off for a xxxnt ad2 truck.
Im running the ninja .21 in my heavy **** hot bodies truggy and it flat out halls, the jp-1 pipe works great for tight short tracks and the jp-2 for the bigger tracks.
Im just waiting for my mugen prospec kit to show up, winter project for the 07 race year. <
