That seems to be a prob w/ the 5T.....I know its a full blown race truck but I actually bought mine for weekend fun and a little pit race/bashin. I called Mugen and was told you can mount a PS on it but may have to shim the motor to clear... I guess if someone was really set on runing it for fun...they'd find a way. Mines on Ebay...never run...

Well that is the most insane engine you can get for it. But if you are ever in the least bit going to race, you might as well forget it, because it's insane

it won't fit the prospec mount because of the starter on the back. you would have to get the std. mounts and might have to shim it up some to clear everything/

crazy power. was running an EB 528xr in my crt racing, going to see how it works for racing in the mbx5t. went down from a 8.0mm venturi to a 6.0mm as well.

ok, since a NR 528xr wont fit without a little modification, what would you guys recommend in the .28 class?? i want it to haul major ass and be a simple drop-in install.

on the NR 528xr, can just swap out the roto start for a closed back?? or do i have to get the std. mounts, and whats the difference??? also, will i really need to shim it up a bit?? i thought the mbx5t accepts .28's..if so, where can i get those daym shims??

thanks again you guys, im fairly new to all of this..i love this forum.

the 528xr will fit the prospec mount right out of the box, the 528xrS will not

the HP ratings that manfs give their motors aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

the nova is a hella lot more motor than the werks dreams it could be.

only thing with the nova IMO, is if you don't want to do a lot of clutch matinance it's not the motor for you. i also wouldn't get it unless you're willing to drop the cash for a GOOD pipe for it.

great, thanks a lot man..

oh, im def. willing to drop cash for a pipe..could you recommend a pipe for me with the NR? i was thinking of pairing it with a NR pipe.

clutch maintenance..such as what? i like to break things down after every single run to ensure everything will continue to run perfectly, so maintenace wouldnt be that big of a deal...as long as its reasonable..looks like im gettin the NR 528xr!

thanks for all your help 72dolphins..

A lot of people around here that are running NR engines are running JP2 pipes. Most guys at our track swear by them.

on my eb 528xr i've messed with a nova 9886, a werks 053(not like on of the ofna knock off ones, compared to a NR and it's the exact same everything including thickness and near identical weight), and a hardcoat mugen 1005. short header, long smooth bend, and medium conical were avaialbe as well

out of those, running the 1005 and long smooth bend header was the best. smooth power everywhere. however, the setup would cost near $200 to buy all at ones(have to buy the pipe with a short header, and then buy a long header).

best for the money is the 053. $90 with the header from werks, longer runtime than the 086 and to me a much better powerband

i used a jammin long header as i had one already, but a lot of people use the nova long(that's the one s.Bess for rc car uses on his).

i got mine a while ago from carolinas, however mugen stopped importing them when they got the ninja line. however, the same 1005 pipe is now being imported by billet(or bullet, something like that). exact same pipe, still made be shimo, but will now say bullet rather than mugen. should only be a matter of time until carolinas gets hardcoated ones back in stock. pete worth(hard coat guy) has a batch of pipes out now, i'd think some are 1005s

if carolinas doesn't get any more in stock, you can email pmworth@mactec.com. <<pete worth

ask him when he's sending off the next batch of pipes to be hard coated, and how much it would be to coat a Mugen pipe and Nova header. the mugen header for whatever reason doesn't take the hardcoat.
