CC will waterproof your ESC (CC brand of course) for $7.50 ea. The price even includes return shipping. They open up the shrink wrap and coat the electronics with some kind of transparent substance. It is well worth the trouble since I've fried an eFlite ESC due to water.

Mine had the same strut problem. I drilled a new hole in the fuse location on one of them.

A friend has one just about done. He says one wing strut is slack, the other nice and tight. Are the struts functional?

No, the struts are too weak and flimsy to be structural. They're strictly cosmetic.

Gents,

You may like to read another thread on this great kit. I've posted some pictures of touch ups/improvements in addition to Greg Covey's review:

Not so! If you remove the struts, that wing will fold on hard loops. I know from experience!!!

Can you help me. Do you have a battery for the radio gear in this plane. one battery for motor and one for the receiver. Or can you fly it on one li-po battery

ZZZ12,
You can use just one battery pack to power both the motor and the radio, but it is not recommended that you do this with the eFlite speed controller. This is my setup:
eFlite 25 motor
CC Phoenix 45 ESC (using the BEC)
4 MN48 servos
2x 3s2p 3600 mAh 10c lipo from 3E Model
