Status: offline 		Does anyone know the actual oil % in the Davis Diesel fuel concentrate? My understanding is that this stuff isn't available any more and that it was originally intended for some specific larger sized engines. The idea behind this fuel was that it had all the ether and lube in it that it needed for its intended use but not the kerosene. The user was supposed to add an equal amount of kerosene to the contents before using it.

I recently came into some of this fuel. It had been in storage for quite awhile, but the seal on the can was intact. Since I didn't intend to use the fuel on the engines it was designed for, I contacted Davis and was told to add 8% castor to the final mix for general use. I followed this recommendation and the fuel is working just fine. The only thing is that my engine seems to be spitting out more oil than my 25% lube homebrew does. I know the old adage "if it works, don't fix it," but I'd rather not dump more of an increasingly expensive commodity into the fuel than I need to.

(Just as a caution, I'm NOT talking here about the fuel currently available from Davis. Don't go adding kerosene unless it explicitly tells you to do so on the can!)
