Well ive got my brio 10 all ready to rip ,then i ran outta cash. I was planning on running the eflite 480 outrunner. Is there anyone that makes a less expensive outrunner that would work good. Ive got everything else just need a motor. Thanks for da help.

I was sort of surprised to see that no one has a suggestion for ya. I've looked around at various sites just to see and everything seems to be around the same price. I put the Power 10 on my Brio but have not yet flown it. Suggestions from other guys say to fly a flattie/foamie for a little while to get the feel of Epower as compared to glow fuel pattern so that's what I'm doing.

I run a Hacker A30-16M on mine and it's ok. It's not over powered, but it gets the job done. From what i have read, the 480 and my hacker are very close performance wise.

well guys i bought my brio 10 today and decide to go with the power 10 outrunner. i'm running a castle 35 and a 12x6e prop with tp 2100 3 cell and all i can say is WOW!!! power out the butt!!!! take off and fly around at half throttle!!! if anyone is using this motor don;t try to trim the rudder at full throttle it has so much torque you will never trim it. i've got mine trimed at half throttle and it's perfect. just remeber guys this realy isn;t a 3-d plane so much as a pattern plane.

My Brio is also powered by the eflite power 10 brushless. I run a TP 2100 prolite and a couple of commonsense 2100's.
I have the airboss 35 amp esc but, I think that the airboss should be 45 amps instead of 35. My brio can fly steadily without losing altitude at under 1/2 throttle. But for fun, your gonna want to hit full from time to time. I just ordered a great planes silver series 45 amp esc so, will use it instead of the airboss.
You will also want to use at least 2 inch foam wheels if you fly off of grass. The little wheels are of no use on grass runways. They dig in and you will nose over on landings.

hi all,new to this forum business.Im thinking of buying a brio,looks cool.but i read a few negative comments with regard to it snapping and crashing unexpectedly.any more info would be great b4 i commit.Also i ordered a oxalys 50 and ys63s to practice f3a but central hobbies were out of hattori header and mount(640 and 643)Any 1 know where else i can buy them?Also what kind of mount would be ideal for the muffler to fit oxalys 50?Hope some 1 can help soon as im in naples, florida until the 9 july and want to take home with me.

I have about 10 flights on my Brio and am very impressed. Setup is Power 10, TP 2100, E-flite 40 ESC and 11X7E prop. AUW is 31.5 ounces and CG is about 98 mm from LE. The recommended elevator throw on low rate seems excessive to me and I plan on reducing it by about 50% for future flights. I have flown the plane in winds as high as 15 MPH and other than getting kicked around it performs quite nicely in the wind. Knife edge flight is awesome with about 25% rudder needed to hold level flight. Tried a knife edge loop but on adding enough rudder to climb it likes to roll out of knife in the direction of the rudder input. I do believe it is capable but will require roll management to make that happen. Inverted flight requires just down pressure to maintain altitude. Rolls are very axial with just pressure on elevator to maintain heading and no required rudder input for moderate roll rates. All in all if you want to practice pattern at the soccer field this plane will fit the bill nicely. I will likely try a few other props as I think the 11X7 is too much for the batteries at pattern speeds.

I was running that same setup on my Brio. Just to let you know beware of the e-flite 40's. It brought my Brio down (total loss). About mid flight it got too hot and shut down the power going to the RX. Next one I build will be sporting a Castle Creations 35. I have never had any problems out of the 25's but for some reason the 40's just seem to overheat after a few flights................GW

hi all,just finnished and flew my brio(480 motor,12x6e prop,1320 11.1v batt,)but was very supprised and bissapointed to find it needed a load of right aileron trim and up elevator.cg is at 100mm from leading edge.any 1 else have this problem?Can you suggest fix?Sounds like a wing out of bed.Bought a gp incidence meter to check today.Pity as i think there is great little flyer in need of help.[:'

i had a simular problem with mine. i'm running the power 10 outrunner and mine came out very nose heavy so i cut away a peice of covering from under the elevator where there is a liting hole and hot glued in some lead weight. soon as i did that the balane got better and it rolls alot better plus point rolls and inverted flight uses very little down elevator and i could not even tall that i put about ounce and a half od weight in the tail!!!! it just flys alot better!!!

I am probably one of the few to use both the lightweight (E-Flight 480 w/ TP 1320s) and E-Fight 10 w/ TP 2100s. With the lightweight power it flew OK but could not handle wind. Plus, even with power management the batteries got hot. Adding the 2100s reduced performance. I mainly practice the Master's pattern and it lacked power. Plus, flying with less power did seem to make the "snap demons" come out. Yes, this plane tends to snap. I am convinced it is the fact they have a single thin spar top and bottom that makes most of the airfoil have a diamond shape. I purchased another Brio 10 and will probably add two more spars and recover the wing.

With the E-Flight 10, this plane is a true performer. It can fly in almost any wind and I hardly use full power, even on the "power-hungy" maneuvers. BTW, it was easy to convert. I popped out the blind nuts on the 480 firewall, cut away what was needed with the Dremel, and glued the 10 plywood over the old. A 20 min job.

One thing to watch out for is warps. The only things not warped were the fuse, stab, and the fin. Luckily all were easy to unwarp with a heat gun (careful near the tips of the wing where the UltraCoat hits the plastic tips. Backyard flyer last month has a Brio 10 in a "staged" shot. Interestingly you can see the warped ailerons and elevator in that shot.

I also found the area between the elevators weak. A few pokes with a pin and some thin CA re-bonded the balsa and made the two halves solid. Hearing about canapy separations, I use a small #2 wood screw from below (accessed through the cooling air exit) to secure the hatch. A glob of epoxy on the inside of the canopy gave the screw something to grab.

All-in-all a great flying plane. It can do anthing a 2-meter pattern plan can (only closer and can fly in my side yard).
