I was wondering if anyone could give me some weights on the wing , stab , rudder and fuse before finishing with no equipment installed on the Aerotech 40 % Yak .

Thanks ,

Hello Scott,

Uncovered it should be 17-19lbs with gear canopy, panels, tailwheel, wing tubes, stab tubes etc.

Thanks
John

Thanks for the info John , I honeycombed my wings and I was wondering if all of the effort was worth it , my wing panel came in at 52oz and that is vacuum bagged with .05 carbon matt and a carbon fiber spar . Any other data would be great if anyone has weighed parts .

Thanks ,
Scott Dunphy

Scott,

My 40% Yak wings weighed 54 oz each; the stabs were 11 oz each. (That is including control horns and hinges.) The wings were vacuum bagged with West Systems epoxy and carbon tow; the stabs were also bagged, but have no carbon in them.

The fuse has a bunch of equipment in it right now; when it's stripped down I'll weigh it.

Best regards,
Pete

Thanks Pete , what motor do you have on your Yak and does it have the power you are looking for ? Do you think a ZDZ 160 or the 3w 157 would fly it well or do I need to go to a 210 ?

I haven't flown it yet; my building thread is the "Yet another Yak" here in the Aerotech section. Hope to have it done by July.

I'm using a DA-150 on K&S tuned pipes. I'm shooting for an AUW of 41 lbs, so that engine/pipe combo should be fine. I previously was flying a Comp-ARF 3.3m Yak 55 with that engine/pipe combo, and it weighed 46.5lbs.
