Status: offline 		Paul, Are you using fully symmetrical arms for lift there? Also, you might want to check the balance and incidence before you fly her like that...looks like it might be a little tail heavy missing the spinner. You also might want to shave the hair off the arms for less drag in the air.

Status: offline 		Took inventory of radio gear. Looks like I'll be using Hitec 645MG's on ailerons and elevators. Good ol' Futaba 5101's for flaps. Futaba S34 1/4 scale for rudder and tail wheel. Hitec 425BB for throttle. Airtronics 94102 for retract switch, on JR 652 radio and R600 receiver with JR heavy duty switch and 1200 MA 4.8 v battery. How's that for mix and match? Power will be a well broken in and strong running BME 50. 20x12 or 21x10 prop. Hopefully just the pipes and small hole for carb is only cutting needed on cowl. The supplied huge spinner is a work of art and sure makes the motor look small. The adjustable motor box is a great idea and needs only slight beefing up to meet my satisfaction. Gotta work this weekend but will be planning things in my head. Wanna hear from other owners of this plane too! Paul

Status: offline 		Is the fuse glass???!! If it is I didn't know that and think the plane is an even better deal. Construction quality looks excellent, and it looks like it will be an ARF that holds up to the abuse of a lot of hard flying and dealings. I'm anxious to see some of these finished as it seems that with some effort on weathering the surface and some add-ons this will really be a nice plane to have a the field. I sure am envious of so little building to do to get a nice looking plane to the field and flying.....worth the dough for sure.

Status: offline 		Just got my Skyshark P-40 today and WOW!!!! This is going to be a real treat to assemble and fly.
Everything was packaged extremely well to avoid damage.
I think that ilike2fly covered most of the parts in his post reply so I won't bore you with the same photos.
I'll post some shots once I have something assembled.

Status: offline 		Installed and wired the servos in with 24 guage stranded intercom wire. No expensive extensions and Y's here! Glued in supplied and drilled pin hinges with polyurethane glue. For a piece of mind I glued a 4'' section of 1 1/8" hardwood dowel inside center of wingtube to prevent it from folding, as I saw it happen at a fly-in recently. The wings are heavy but strongly built. Lazer cut plywood ribs thruout with balsa used only for sheeting. Looks like a considerable amount of washout was built in the wings as to help low speed handing. I've never used Solartex but it seems tough and wrinkle free. Kind of like the old coverite supershrink covering. It's easier for me to do the panel lines and weathering before joining the big wing halves together. I'll use the same technique I did on my 80" WM Zero pictured in my gallery. P40 color scheme still undecided. Paul

Status: offline 		The fiberglass fuselage has panel lines and rivet detail molded in. I'll enhance them with a black Sharpie marker and highlight with a carbon pencil or finely crushed charcoal rubbed in with finger. Same is done on top and bottom and wing lines drawn with marker using a good reference picture for location. Since wing is light colored on bottom, panel detail is very visible in air. Once satisfied with look, I'll spray plane with satin urethane to protect finish. Crude, but worth the effort! Paul

Status: offline 		Here's my P-40 so far. The retracts (Sierra) and engine (Revolution 50) are on the way.

Notice the gap between the wing and the fuselage fairing, or should I say, the lack of such gap.

The split flap and wing trailing edge are a lot thicker than the TE of the aileron, but should not present a flight problem. It just looks weird.

The canopy is really thin, so be careful when cutting it to size.

I dobn't care for the control horn backing plates on top of the ailerons and elevators, but there's not enough wood inside to screw into safely.

It may reach 20 or 21 pounds, but should do just fine.

Status: offline 		There is only balsa between the sheeting, probably not strong enough even after hardening with CA.

Your dowel installation may be just the thing though. I may give it a try on the elevators and rudder
