[:(]Well its dead. The repair I had to make to my Walkera transmitter failed. It was this after noon at 12:00.(where were you at noon?)[:(] I was working on hovers.I have gotten to where I could keep it within a four foot radius and then it happened....My throttle stick colapsed into the body of the Tx.....[:(] I was indoors at the plant.(good area to hover,two hundred feet in any direction,.... but only seven feet overhead.) When the stick colapsed, my belovded DF40 shot up four feet and hit an I beam. Then ,as pieces flew, it launched itself downward to the hard,cold,and unforgiving concrete floor.[sm=lol.gif] Even my first crash wasn't this bad.[:@] But dry those tears, I bought a used Tx last week and for a couple bucks more the dude threw in the Rx and servos which happen to be in a maxed out Z-400 that he sent me with the Tx cause he didn't want to take them out himself[:D] so be of good cheer and rejoice...I'm down but not out[sm=pirate.gif] [8D]Dannoh40 & his trying to fly right boys[8D]

dannoh.. wow.. sorry about the 40 but by the picture it doesnt seem to be that bad.. it can still be repaired just need some replacement parts.. dont know about the TX.. what do you mean by the stick went thru.. do you mean that the screw that holds the sticks popped out and the potentiometers went in the TX? darn thats bad?

Not just the stick but the whole stick control unit. They come from walkera busted but are easy to repair. I had to use glue and plastic shims to fix it and thats what failed. It sent my 40 up to full speed. Bling....right into the I beam.[:@] I'll fix it up, I have most of the parts except the shaft through the rotor. Shame too, because she was flying so smooth. I don't think I'll be very serious about the 40 though because it has a minamal chasie. There isn't alot there to make it ridgid enough to really handle the stress need for a minimal amount of presision. I'll wait for my blinged out Z-400 and use that while I wait for more DF40 parts. Have to fix it , I have three main motors and three tail motors.Or maybe I'll just use them in the Z-400 just to tame it down alittle at first since it has brushless now. no problem.. always look over the guys who has the DF40.. this heli gave me the skills that i am using currently.. I know you can build back the Df40 to its shinning state.. it is simple and the parts are only a few.. so it will be easy for you to get it back in the air.. I tell you f you can hover your DF40 it will be very easy for you to hover the DF35.. the 40 is very hard to tame.. but ones you get the right sticks controls it is not that hard afterall... continue on man.. it is part of our hobby.. crashing teaches us to do better....

The Tx that came with my #4 had a pushed in gimbal when it arrived. When I did eventually put the batteries in after fixing the left hand gimbal, I turned the thing on and a little puff of smoke came out the upper right corner accompanied by that sick electrical smell. Turned out that it still worked... with a range of about 8 feet. I wound up using an old Futaba conquest Tx that I had laying around that happened to be on the same frequency. It worked beautifully. Good luck puttin' her back together.

ziramiller what RX did you use on your futaba? did it work with the 4in1 that your Df4 have?

Hi zirramiller, I am surprised as soneebee about the Futaba transmitter working with the DF4 transmitter. What did you do to get it to work? Everybody else lets you believe it cannot be done, so I did not even try!! Regards Nic

Actually, I didn't have to do anything. I was in the process of switching out the Rx that came with the #4 for a GWS Rx that I had on a foamie so I could use the conquest radio when I noticed that they were the same frequency. I might have had to reverse a servo on the Tx or something, but I don't remember. I seem to remember that there was a small shift in the neutral point of the servos, so I may have had to remove the servo arms and put them back on on in the center position. At least for me, the Futaba radio works great. I could be mistaken, but as I understand it, pretty much any FM "negative shift" Rx will work with an FM Futaba, provided they're on the same frequency, of course. Maybe I just got lucky...I was overdue.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Too many words. It did work with the 4 in 1 that came with the DF4.

Zira, how old is your Walkera #4? You are the only person i've ever seen who's managed to get a non-walkera transmitter to work with the Walkera receiver. Is it possible Walkera has finally started using standard signals? If so it would be a huge plus. I had one of the original #4 versions a few years ago. The Walkera transmitter would work with other receivers, but no transmitter I owned would work on the 4in1. I even tried my Hitec Eclipse 7, which is both frequency AND shift selectable, and that never worked. Then shortly after the V2 #4 became available, and with it, revised transmitters and receivers. These then worked with nothing but eachother. Walkera even altered the trainer plug (that alot of people, including my self at the time, used to connect their TX to their PC and practice on FMS). I found my current plug did not work with my new Walkera transmitter when I managed to break my original one. Walkera consistently modifies and alters their products through their life range (I think their transmitters have gone through like 8 revisions, with nothing to signifiy model number or revision number, so each one looks identical to the next untill you open them up, and even then, the PCB is not marked, so you have no idea wether you have a newer or older version of the product). I'm curious as to wether your #4 was before or after the Walkera logo change on the transmitters (when they went from the blue color display to the black/red one they use now?).

That sounds like a mess. I got mine about two months ago, but from what I can see on the web now, it was definately not the latest version. It is the version 2 and the Tx had the blue logo. I was planning to switch out the Rx portion for a GWS naro when I noticed the frequency. I wound up not separating the Rx from the mixer/gyro. Is there any reason that switching to the GWS Rx wouldn't have worked?

It would have worked, except that you would then need to bypass the 4in1's features, so you'd need a seperate mixer and gyro aswell as the receiver. Getting a different transmitter to work with the 4in1 is obviously the easier route but, untill now, I haven't heard of anyone getting it to work. [8D]
