i realy like rock crawling, and i like the kits from the crawler store, mainly the stick. i am not ready to drop 250 on the chassy, so i was thinking about making one from my own plans. i am aiming for the standard size of crawlers, plan uo use 55 to 65 turn motors, and i do not have much expierence with the building of them. any help about them will be great.

i do have a dremmel and the hardest bit they offer for cutting aluminim, so that kind of work is available for the design.

Try one of the chassis from CPE. Their chassis are very nice and the cost are very affordable.

I think the Evolution chassis are under $80.00 and the NEW CLAW chassis (what I'm using to build my next Super Class Crawler) is only $119.00 By far the most cost effective chassis on the market IMO!!!

Here is a link and a couple shots of the CLAW!

I built my chassis out of soldired brass tube and it will hold up to me standing on it. its unbelievably light and its cheap it cost me about 10 to 15 dollars for all of it.

CPE chassis rock! I have a 60/40 Claw that has been to the South Pole & back. The shockless design worked consistently down to -50F!

Are you not looking to spend $250 on just the chassis or the entire thing? Pretty much no matter what route you take it's going to be over $250 for the completed crawler.

What class crawler are you looking to get?

Do you have to use clod axles.

The CPE chassis is made for Clod axles. I guess you could custom mount an axial transmission in the chassis and use axial axles but I'm not certain how large the CPE chassis is...it may be too large for a 2.2 crawler.

LOL, didn't even notice how old this thread was. I'm not sure why anyone would bump this thread from that long ago. It was only two years ago, he might still be shopping around.
