Status: offline 		Hi, I am in the process of building a 100" Pilatus PC6 Turbo Porter, projected weight is around 15 lbs. Due to the thin nose of this aircraft the RCV 120 seems to be ideal. Do you think that it has enough power for this model?
Another question is that the original has a 4 bladed prop. How will the engine cope with such a prop?

Thanks for your enquiry. 15lbs is about the heaviest model that an RCV120SP will fly. Any heavier and performance could be marginal.

I would say that the 120SP will certainly have enough power to pull the aircraft around they sky, but aerobatics etc wouldn't be achievable.
With regard to a 4-bladed prop, the RCV120SP will pull a 15.5x12 4-bladed prop easily, however as with the increase in blades does decrease the efficiency, so if you feel the RCV120SP needs more power to pull the PC6 then it would be better to use a 2-bladed prop.

Would aerobatics (with 4-blade) be possible if the aircraft weighed more around 10-12 lbs?

To be honest, we do not recommend our SP series engine for aerobatics anyway. Aerobatics tend to prefer lots of rpm at the prop, whereas the SP series has a reduction output, therefore it has twice of torque but half the rpm. That isn't to say people can't, but they are not are ideally suited.
The RCV120SP will have more than enough power for a 10-12lb model and will certainly be able to pull it around the sky with ease. 4-bladed props are less efficient than 2-bladed props, but with a lighter model (eg. 10-12lb) this should be a problem.

Status: offline 		Hi windhawk, the kit is very old and from Ikon Nwest, who ceased to exist sometimes in the 90s. Its a very nice plane, but a difficult kit, with a lot of cutting to do and innaccuurates plans. Nothing to do with laser cuts parts and 30 pages manuals wit tons of pictures. Its more of how you interpret the plans ' the manual, and the wooden pieces.
