What other RC8T parts fit? Does the body fit?

The diffs are the same between ST-1 and RC8/T (but the diff case/bulkheads are different). I believe the wheel axles will fit too.

Thanks Keith, they don't list one for the .28 but I'll call them in the AM to see if they can recommend one.

It used to be listed right on the site. I cant find it either. I wonder if they stopped making it? They should have one that fits though.

They guided me to the S680 which fits a large number of engines. None in stock locally so I ordered one from hopmeup along with the shaft and a new O.S. # 8 plug.

Does not fit!

The ears of the Tiger Drive mounting plate hit the floor pan and hold the engine up off the mounts by about an 1/8th inch or so. They asked if I could cut the floor pan which I won't do. Back to the pull start for now until I get another engine I guess.

Not that concerned except for purchasing something that the manufacturer said would work.

Any idea if the rotostart one bearing of the Assoicated Pro 28 engine will fit the ST-1's stock engine? I know the Pro engines are rebranded TTs. Will it fit?

The ST-1 is very wide but you might be able to use the bulldog if its for the Mugen. Check with ProLine to find out how wide the body is first.

Has anyone had problems with diff's slipping? I have not taken them apart to check for the root cause yet. I suspect it to be the ring and pinion slipping.
I am able to run but, when under a load I will hear clicking. I was able to duplicate the sound when by turning one wheel by hand while the holding the opposite wheel so not to turn.

Do you feel it binding and skipping when you do that? The ST-1 diffs are pretty strong but they can wear out just like anything else. The only way to know for sure is to open them up and take a look.

No binding, just skipping. I still have yet to take them apart. My concern is proper shimming. It seems that would be a real pain to get right.

Not really.  A couple of thin washers and you will be good to go.

Those shims provide "mesh" for the ring and pinion. Hence my concern for "proper shimming".

I did take the front diff. apart and found the pinion gear is badly worn.

Admittedly, more than likely my fault! I had the diffs. apart to change over to silicone oil from the factory grease. I thought I installed the shims where I removed them from. I have two shims on one side, pushing the ring tighter to the pinion. I think that is the root cause of the problem. So parts are on order!

I know what the shims are for. I have used them on several different cars.
If you shim the diffs too tight you will do just as much damage as if they are too loose.
My point was that its not difficult to do. You just need a few shims.
Good luck.

I kept the stock "shimming" and never had any issues with the outer gears. The inner spiders gave me issues once when i forgot the shims (and oil ) but that said, both were my problems.

Well I never thought that this would come but my car sits, doing nothing. Sad to see it like that but without much time to run it or desire to throw a new motor... in it, I think its deligated to the "parts pile." AT LEAST the drivetrain... is in good shape so im debating machining up a nice little "dune buggy" style car with the parts from it (4WD for SURE )
