Thanks, Tom. I understand completely. I'm sure it must be a challenge to make everyone happy and still make money on the models. I would think the stock scheme would draw sales. It really lends itself well to IMAC/IAC judging due to its clean lines. I'd definately be in for one with that scheme. Not so hot on the "Red Bull" one (to each his own though!!)

Scott

My experience on our 87" composite Sukhoi was people were tired of the stock scheme and were looking for something else.

I'm with the other Scott, I like the stock schemes for the Sukhoi. Although I also like the Honda scheme. Maybe you could offer up an all white one and we could stripe it ourselves. I was real close to ordering one of the composite ones, but by the time I saved up the cash you quit carrying them. Good thing is I never got around to buying something else. Glad to see someone is going to offer the sukhoi again.

I am partial to a semi stock sheme as it helps to show better. This is a good looking Red Bull Scheme also though. Maybe a single color choice would work also...All white would let just about all the origonal colors to be used, and for those like myself make it easier to strip for my very own personalized, simplistic, so I know it's mine, looks OK, "Monokote", color scheme.
Heck I am happy to see the wing is in the right place .

Unfortunately, a lot of people think that getting a single color plane so they can come up with their own scheme is a great idea, until they actually buy one. I'm on the lazy side, or I probably would build from kits. But I never could come up with a scheme I wanted to use for my all-white 35% Extra. The few I liked seemed like too much work to do. I ended up keeping it in my shop for a couple of years, and eventually resold mine. Guess I'm just an ARF kind of guy.

Is this also going to be offered in a SU-26 version?

The plane is an SU-26. I don't know if I will offer it in the stock scheme, is that what you meant?

I've got everything I'd need for this dude. Nice new Fuchs prop, new tailwheel, 105cc engine, new servos and SWB dual servo tray, new batteries, wiring, switches, regulators, and linkage assemblies. Now all I need is the plane. I figure that with any luck I'll be able to fly one when I get back again beginning of March, '07.

Pat:

All I can say is I am really sorry that Greyhound did not do a better job, and that I wish I had shipped it to Stockton instead of Lodi. We have never had a real problem with Greyhound other than 1 plane to the north west that took 9 days to arrive.

I know sorry doesn't help much. I'm sure it will pop out the other end soon.

So there will be no included Red Bull references? Is it possible to buy them seperately?

There will be no Red Bull script that I'm aware of. That by itself could easily cause some copyright issue that nobody needs. For that it would be pretty easy for someone to have it done privately via a print shop and transfers.

I hate to go against the grain here, but I like the Red Bull scheme, a lot. I'd definately be more inclined to buy this baby if it had that scheme.

From what i have read you get the plane with the scheme but with out any bulls or the words red bull on it duo to trade marks rights and such all you need do to get the rest of the scheme is order a few vinyl graphics from some where like Kirby's custom graphics or any other place, the local vinyl store may be able to accommodate and i bet it wouldn't cost much either way. Were as it would cost wh a lot and that cost would get passed on to use the customer. So this way we save money.

To produce the plane with the Red Bull script graphics and not pay a pre determined royalty would shortly put a manufacturer out of business. To produce the plane and pay the royalties would likely add several hundred to a thousand dollars to each plane sold that would be given to the Red Bull sponsor, not the team itself. That's a lot of cans of liquid speed! You could get the grapics done privately for a reasonable price and apply them yourself.

Maybe a different thought process would help with getting permission to use the Red Bull logo.

Instead of "paying royalties", ask Red Bull if they would like to pay for the privelage of having their logo shipped with the planes as a form of advertising. They pay $50.00 per kit sold, the buyers get $25.00 bucks off, Tom makes an extra $25.00.

Aerobatic teams do airshows to a wide demographic population, but mostly dominated by high testosterone, fire breathing consumers. That just happens to be Red Bull's target market. So, the team gets funding to promote the Red Bull name. If you can show a similar demographic at XFC/Joe Nall/TOC/Nat's/TUS Shoot Out and etc., then you might have a chance to get advertisement funding.

I wasn't saying anything about the script, but I just like the scheme that I saw in the photos that rctom posted. I know I can get the Red BUll script cut for my self, and thats not a big problem, just the scheme that the arf came in would be difficult to change.

To my knowledge the color scheme you saw with the prototypes willl be essentially the same for the production planes. The big difference (and not really a big difference at all) will be that the metallic blue will be changed to a solid color so it doesn't "wash out" in the air. It should actually end up a little brighter that way. The metallic blue tended to "fade" from view a little in certain lighting positions, and matched the bottom silver color a little too closely with an oblique sunlight position. It could have caused some orientation issues for those with color vision that may be a little off.

Tom has never said that himself, but that's pretty much what I noted with mine.

I don't know, I get pretty deep into the backcountry sometimes, especially during deer season!

I know it's a different market, but you never know unless you ask them. My wife used to work for one of the major Coke bottlers, and you would be surprised at all the little things they support just to get their logo seen.

We are not talking about design rights, its advertising. Even if they don't pay someone to ship it with a plane, they may allow its use for free...if it the request is phrased as "hey, here is a cheap way to get your logo seen by a few more people in a potentially different demographic" rather than "can I borrow your logo to make some money from it".

They may not go for it, but it never hurts to ask politely.

Just trying to be constructive and think outside the box a little.

Actually, you just need a little bit of imagination. I ordered one of the 91" caps in all white last spring & am just getting around to finishing it. Here's a preview. Not a real good pictue as the wife was playing with the cell phone but you get the idea.
