Sunny_B -> Building Fairwind 900 (6/24/2006 7:35:26 PM)

I am attempting to assemble my FIRST sailboat. It is a Fairwind 900, which I hope to race with a club as soon as I learn enough not to embaress myself to much. One of the first steps is to sand the flashing where the hull is joined together. As ignorant as I am, I fear sanding to much off. It looks pretty good but I can still feel the joint. I am afraid to risk sanding through and leaving a hole. Any suggestions or advice.
Thanks,
Sunny_B

There are great articles on building the Fairwind here

Make sure you look at Bakersfield MYC Fairwind Construction Guide

Sandy, hello! I build two of those and I used a dremel with no problems. They sail nice. I follow some of the building tips on the link mention above and had good results.

I have a Fairwind and to me, is a really stable, responsive boat.

Hi, I'm trying to revive a Fairwind 900. Does anyone know where in ca find this item?

Well now, I do believe my last posting was a bit confusing. Concerning the Fairwind I need the internal battery box. Where can one be found?

The battery box usually comes with the radio.

There now a Fairwind III substituting the 900 and the II, which seems radically different (longer, deeper, grp hull etc.)

NOt sure what internal you are talking about, but you can find a battery holder for the receiver at Tower Hobbies ;)
