I have a GP Wagstaff Extra 300 waiting for an engine. I was thinking along the lines of a ZDZ or BME 50 since these seem to the most popular here on RCU, but what about the Zenoah G-45? How does it, or other Zenoah engines, compare?

I have a G-45 on a Sig Suhkoi, and have had a ball with it for two seasons of flying. I mostly sport fly and enjoy tumbling around; for this the Zenoah engines are great. For 3D,etc maybe you need the more expensive engines. I also have a G-38 on a Texas Hurricane, and a G-62 on a laser 2000. You can't beat these engines for overall sport flying, and cost........John

I have a Zenoah G-45 mounted on my DP Extra 330. I have not flown it yet, but I have seen one fly with a Fuji 50. I think the DP extra and the GP extra are similar in size. I will probably fly my DP Extra come this spring. I see you are in Westerville, I fly at the Westerville club! Maybe I will see you around!

have Zenoah and ZDZ engines, both are great but if weight is a factor then I'll pick ZDZ.

there is no competition get the zdz the bme or the taurus lemme put it to you this way a zenoah gt80 puts out around 5-6 horse power. the much lighter da100 puts out 10 so if you just want to fly around then zenoahs are great but give that awesome airplane you have that ballistic spine tingling power that it deserves

Zenoah engines are for old farts, like me. I just bought two new ones.

I do own some of the non-magneto type engines (BME) for when I'm feeling my oats. However, sometimes I yearn for simplicity and reliability. Nothing touches a Zenoah in this department.

One of the other fellows is right. If you want to fly 3D, don't buy a Zenoah unless RCIGN has waved his magic wand over it.
